The Impact You’ll Have:Â
As a Transportation Engineering Intern, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to real-world transportation projects that shape the communities where we live and work. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll gain exposure to a variety of state, county, and municipal projects. Depending on project needs and your interests, you may support highway design, city and county roadway projects, or maintenance of traffic (MOT). Your work may include roadway design, traffic control planning, pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, drainage design, and other features that help create safe, efficient, and accessible transportation networks.Â
Responsibilities:Â
- Assist with preliminary and final design of projectsÂ
- Perform design computations and analysesÂ
- Assist with preparation of engineering reports and supporting documentsÂ
- Assist in the preparation of construction drawings, specifications and cost estimatesÂ
- Coordinate design decisions with other engineering disciplinesÂ
- Plan, coordinate, and execute work in a safe, timely, cost-effective and compliant mannerÂ
- Perform other related duties as assignedÂ
Â
Qualifications:Â
- Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or related engineering field)Â
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsÂ
- Strong technical and problem solving skillsÂ
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and WordÂ
- Exposure to or interest in learning engineering design software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, or Civil 3DÂ
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality workÂ
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlinesÂ
- Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn in a collaborative team environmentÂ
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary teamÂ

The pay rate for this position is expected to be $25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.Â
