WSP is currently initiating a search for an Associate Electrical Engineer for our Minneapolis, MN office. Be involved in projects with our Property & Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.
This opportunity is ideal for an emerging engineering professional seeking to advance their career while working alongside experienced professionals on a diverse portfolio of building projects. As part of our multidisciplinary Property & Buildings team, you will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical systems for commercial, healthcare, higher education, mixed-use, civic, industrial, and other building projects throughout the region. You will support projects through all phases of development, from planning and design through construction administration, while gaining valuable technical experience and mentorship from industry-leading engineers.Â

Your Impact
- Assist with the design and development of building electrical systems, including: Â
- Power distribution systems
- Interior and exterior lighting systems
- Lighting controls
- Emergency and standby power systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Low-voltage and special systems
- Perform electrical engineering calculations, including:Â
- Electrical load calculations
- Voltage drop analyses
- Equipment sizing
- Feeder and conductor sizing
- Short-circuit studies
- Coordination studies
- Support the preparation of construction drawings, specifications, reports, technical studies, and other project documentation.
- Develop engineering designs and construction documents using Revit, AutoCAD, and related software platforms.
- Assist with site investigations, facility assessments, field observations, and construction administration activities.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, and requests for information (RFIs).
- Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, plumbing engineers, clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Support project managers with project execution, scheduling, budgeting, quality management, and coordination efforts.
- Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing project data and technical information.
- Complete assigned training and professional development activities.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.Â
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience in an electrical engineering capacity.
- Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and building systems design.
- Familiarity with building electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and fire alarm systems.
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes, electrical codes, and industry standards.
- Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work products.Â
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting the design of commercial, healthcare, higher education, science & technology, mission critical, or civic facilities.
- Familiarity with power system analysis software and building design workflows.
- Prior internship or consulting engineering experience in the AEC industry.
- Progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Compensation:Â
Expected Salary (all locations): $74,100 - $101,900
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
