Job Summary

The Engineer I, Firmware Development develops and maintains firmware for the Wireless Communication and Networking Devices.


Key Responsibilities
•    Designs, develops, documents, and tests Wireless Communication and Network Devices Firmware.
•    Contributes to the development of product design specifications including functional requirements, use     cases, detailed design, interface, and test plans.
•    Contributes to design verification of testing processes and procedures.
•    Assists with planning and support of field installations of Alpha and Beta phase.
•    Contributes to product and system-level test efforts.
•    Designs industry standard interfaces where required.

Education: BS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or electrical engineering required.

Experience: 
•    1-3 years experience
•    Experienced in Test Automation development.

Preferred Qualifications: 
•    Programming C, C++, C# a plus
•    Firmware development for an embedded system
•    Development using Real-time operating systems
•    Use of development and debugging tools in an embedded system
•    Familiarity with Wireless communication and Networking protocols 
•    Familiarity with RF networks, security encryption and packet-based networks are desirable 
•    Familiarity with protocol stacks such as 802.15.4e, 6LowPAN, SNMPv2/3, DHCPv6, FTP is desirable 
•    Personal Computer knowledge familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Keyboard/typing skills 
•    Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.


Working Conditions: Typical indoor office environment with the majority of time spent sitting and working on a computer using keyboard, mouse, and monitor.  Occasional use of other devices such as: phone, copier/printer/fax, etc. 

Driving Status: May require occasional driving

Physical Requirements: Typical office setting. Required to stand; walk; crouch; or handle objects. Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Ability to sit and view computer screen for long periods of time. The ability to see, hear, & speak in English. Reasonable accommodations provided for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Personal Protection Equipment/Other OHSAS-18001 Safety Requirements: Ensure the continued efforts and assist in achieving annual goals of health, safety, and environmental policies. Must be current with available OSHA/Safety Training provided by the Company. If required, must be able to work while wearing safety equipment such as hard hats, work boats, gloves, hearing protection, and others.

Pay is in the range of $76,400- $92,000 per year.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional licenses held.  All candidates are encouraged to apply.
