Job Summary
The Corrosion Technician position will obtain Operator Qualifications through training and experience to meet the requirements of the role.  This position is responsible to prevent and mitigate corrosion of UGI underground metallic pipelines and for meeting applicable regulatory requirements. The position is also responsible for pipeline integrity assessment activities. Duties include the installation, inspection and maintenance of cathodic protection systems including necessary records and documentation
Duties and Responsibilities
- Test, troubleshoot remediate and maintain existing cathodic protection systems and equipment with limited supervision.
- Inform and instruct C&M, engineering and contractors on how to cathodically protect new services and mains or added extensions.
- Assist and instruct C&M and contractors in the installation of Corrosion Control systems.
- Assist in pipeline integrity assessment activities.
- Design cathodic protection systems for services and smaller coated main segments.
- Inspect non-cathodically protected services or mains for potential future protection.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of pipeline cathodic protection concepts.
- Knowledge of operational practices and procedures related to cathodic protection and integrity management of underground metallic pipelines.
- Knowledge of applied electrical circuit theory through training or hands-on experience with wiring, troubleshooting, and testing circuits. Â
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations helpful.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal departments, outside contractors, township officials and the public. Â
- Possess ability to work independently and identify and resolve cathodic protection problems.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma required. Â 2 year technical degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years in natural gas operations or related technical experience
- Acquiring of NACE CP1 Certification is required to reach the required Sr. Corrosion Control Technician destination.
- Valid PA Driver’s license
- Appalachian Underground Short Course (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced) provided by the company and is required to progress in the role. Â
