The Director of Sales leads and develops the company’s sales organization, including outside sales managers, inside sales, independent sales representatives, field marketing, and product specialists. This role manages strategic customer relationships, drives sales performance, oversees budgeting and forecasting, and leads distribution and channel partner initiatives. The Director of Sales enhances the effectiveness of trade shows, executes growth strategies aligned with company goals, and serves as a key member of the leadership team with direct access to executive leadership.
Responsibilities- Provide clear direction, coaching, and leadership to regional sales managers, inside sales, independent sales contractors, field marketing, and the interconnect product specialist.
- Establish and communicate clear goals, KPIs, and performance expectations across the sales organization.
- Build and maintain a high-performance culture focused on accountability, execution, and customer satisfaction.
- Support training, development, and onboarding initiatives for all sales personnel to ensure consistent execution and professional growth.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue and margin targets.
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to identify and prioritize growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with executive leadership on long-term sales planning, territory alignment, and resource allocation.
- Manage and grow relationships with core key customers through regular onsite visits and strategic business reviews.
- Create, communicate, and manage annual sales budgets for direct sales teams and independent representatives.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasting and performance reporting to ensure alignment with company targets.
- Partner with purchasing, accounting, and operations to ensure accurate planning related to demand, inventory, and profitability.
- Serve as the executive point of contact for major customers, leading contract negotiations, pricing discussions, and high-level account planning.
- Monitor customer satisfaction levels and ensure timely resolution of escalated issues and concerns.
- Develop and maintain sales metrics and reporting tools to track sales performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide regular updates to executive leadership on sales progress, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure data accuracy and disciplined usage of CRM and other sales-management platforms across the sales organization.
- Represent the company at key account visits, trade shows, and industry events to support business development and brand visibility.
- Shape sales strategy, KPIs, processes, and organizational structure as part of a newly created leadership role.
- Act as a strategic partner to executive leadership, contributing to decisions that influence how the commercial team grows and scales.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, preferably in manufacturing, interconnect products, or related technical industries.
- Experience managing direct reports, independent sales representatives, and cross-functional teams.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth and building strong, long-term customer relationships.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills with the ability to inspire high performance.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
- High proficiency in CRM systems and sales analytics tools.
- Ability to travel approximately 25–30%, including overnight stays for key account visits, trade shows, and regional sales manager visits.
- Experience working with distribution and channel partners in technical or manufacturing environments.
- Background in interconnect products, power distribution units, cable assemblies, or industrial/electrical connectivity solutions.
- Comfort operating in a high-growth environment with significant investment and expansion underway.
- Ability to design and refine sales processes, KPIs, and organizational structures for a growing commercial team.
- Experience collaborating closely with executive leadership as a strategic partner.

This role is primarily based in an office environment with hybrid flexibility, offering a blend of on-site and remote work as appropriate to business needs. Travel is required approximately 25–30%, including overnight stays for key account customer visits, participation in trade shows, and in-person meetings with regional sales managers and distributors across multiple regions. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $185000.00 - $210000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
