Job DetailsJob Location: Mechanicsville, VA 23111Salary Range: $49,900.00 - $64,000.00JOB SUMMARY: The Independent Living Recreation Coordinator is responsible for developing, organizing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive recreation and engagement program for Independent Living residents within a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). This position supports on-campus classes, in-house programs, resident-led interest groups and clubs, outings, and special events that promote resident engagement, wellness, social connection, lifelong learning, and quality of life. The coordinator collaborates with residents, staff, volunteers, vendors, community partners and supports the Director of Resident Services & Compliance with resident relations, program operations, communication, and improvement initiatives. QualificationsJOB QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Hospitality, Event Planning, Communications, Gerontology, Human Services, or a related field; OR a minimum of five (5) years of experience coordinating resident programs, events, activities, customer service, or community engagement services. A minimum of 1 year’s work or unpaid experience working with older adults. Ability to plan, organize, and facilitate large and small group programs, educational presentations, meetings, and special events. Must be able to work independently with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, prioritize competing demands, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records and documentation. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, email, databases, event registration systems, and digital communication platforms; experience with Canva or other graphic design and visual communication software preferred. Working knowledge of audiovisual (AV) equipment, virtual meeting platforms, printers, and basic technology troubleshooting. Must be able to cultivate positive and respectful relationships with older adults with varying degrees of interests, abilities, levels of independence, and communication preferences.
