Roles & Responsibilities:
As a Software Engineering Intern at MITRE, you will enjoy a collaborative environment where you work closely with others in an organization that encourages and values collaboration, mentoring, and continuous learning. You will have the opportunity to leverage and grow your hands-on software engineering expertise as you contribute to real challenges across a variety of domains. As part of the Cloud & Distributed Software Systems department, you will develop your software architecture and engineering skills while delivering computing capabilities wherever they are best suited to address the challenges of our sponsors.
While responding to these challenges, you will leverage and grow your hands-on skills with software design and development, engaging in the full software engineering lifecycle using modern technologies.
You will gain experience with one or more of the following: Â
- Cloud EngineeringÂ
- DevSecOpsÂ
- Full-Stack Development Â
- Embedded Systems and Internet of ThingsÂ
- Practical Applications of Machine Learning and Artificial IntelligenceÂ
Basic Qualifications:
Sustained excellence in academic performance
- Must be a student enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-seeking program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related degree and continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.
- This position has an on-site requirement of 3 days a week minimum.
- Prior experience as an intern at MITRE in the last 12 months.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
- Familiarity with Cloud Services Providers (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.).
- Knowledge of software design patterns.
- Knowledge of database technologies, including relational or NoSQL.
- Knowledge of Generative Pretrained and Large Language Models and use in the Software Development Lifecycle.
Clearance: In addition to passing MITRE’s employment background check, you may be submitted for a U.S. Government Security clearance.  This is determined by the Department of Defense’s adjudicative guidelines for receiving a clearance, to include U.S. citizenship.  Other jobs may require vetting for various levels of agency public trust, fitness, suitability, controlled access, and special programs access determination consistent with the work program to which you are assigned.Â
