About the Role:
The RTR Cath Lab Tech plays a critical role in supporting cardiovascular procedures by operating specialized imaging equipment and assisting the medical team in the catheterization laboratory. This position is responsible for preparing and maintaining the cath lab environment, ensuring all equipment is functioning properly, and providing technical expertise during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. The tech collaborates closely with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care and optimize procedural outcomes. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to minimize risks and ensure patient and staff safety. Ultimately, the RTR Cath Lab Tech contributes to the successful diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions through skilled technical support and patient care assistance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Current certification as a Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) or equivalent.
- Experience or training in cardiovascular or interventional radiology procedures.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) or equivalent specialized credential.
- Experience working in a catheterization laboratory or interventional cardiology setting.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and digital imaging software.
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety and infection control best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain fluoroscopic and imaging equipment used during cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Prepare the catheterization lab by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is calibrated and functioning.
- Assist physicians and nursing staff during procedures by handling instruments, monitoring patient status, and documenting procedural details.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and infection control protocols to protect patients and staff.
- Perform routine equipment quality checks and troubleshoot technical issues to minimize procedural delays.
- Maintain accurate records of procedures, equipment maintenance, and patient information in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with advances in cath lab technology and techniques.
