The IT Support Specialist (Part-Time) will serve as the onsite IT resource for our Marion, SC warehouse and distribution operations while also providing remote support to employees at our Charleston headquarters as needed. This role is responsible for independently handling day-to-day technical support in Marion, including troubleshooting common issues, supporting employees, and assisting with hardware, software, and equipment needs.

While the majority of issues are routine first-level IT support, this position requires someone who is comfortable working independently without onsite IT supervision, using sound judgment to troubleshoot and resolve issues and knowing when to escalate more complex problems to the broader IT team.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support

  • Serve as the primary onsite IT support resource for employees at the Marion warehouse

  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve common technical issues involving desktops, laptops, mobile devices, monitors, printers, scanners, and peripherals

  • Provide remote technical support to employees at our Charleston headquarters as needed

  • Troubleshoot issues related to operating systems, Microsoft 365, productivity tools, and standard business applications

  • Assist employees with password resets, MFA setup, account access, and basic user administration tasks

  • Monitor and respond to help desk tickets in a timely and customer-focused manner

  • Determine when issues require escalation and coordinate with senior IT team members remotely to resolve more complex problems

Hardware & Software Support

  • Prepare and deploy new employee workstations and IT equipment

  • Install approved applications, software packages, and updates

  • Assist with device imaging, patching, and maintaining compliance standards

  • Diagnose basic hardware issues and coordinate warranty service or replacement when needed

  • Maintain accurate tracking of computers, peripherals, and other IT equipment

  • Support printers, shared devices, and technology used throughout warehouse operations

  • Troubleshoot basic Wi-Fi, networking, and connectivity issues

  • Provide onsite assistance when remote IT team members need physical access to equipment or systems in Marion

Onboarding, Offboarding & Documentation

  • Set up accounts, devices, and permissions for new hires

  • Prepare and distribute equipment for new employees

  • Collect and process returned equipment during employee offboarding

  • Ensure onboarding and offboarding checklists are completed accurately

  • Maintain accurate records of hardware and software assets

  • Document troubleshooting steps, common issues, and resolutions for internal knowledgebase use

Qualifications

  • Previous IT support, help desk, desktop support, or related technical troubleshooting experience

  • Degree or coursework in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred

  • Fundamental understanding of Windows and macOS operating systems

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, common business applications, and basic networking concepts

  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve routine technical issues without onsite supervision

  • Good technical judgment, including the ability to recognize when an issue should be escalated

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail

  • Dependable and comfortable being the primary onsite point of contact for IT support

  • Ability to follow established procedures while taking initiative when needed

  • Comfortable providing both hands-on onsite support and remote technical assistance
