POSITION SUMMARY
* Inspects in-bound tractors and trailers to identify operating and DOT defects, ensuring safety and compliance.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Conducts thorough inspections of tractors, trailers, reefers, and tires.
* Records identified defects in the maintenance system.
* Communicates identified defects to the driver and shop personnel to administer repairs.
* Maintains positive relationships with shop staff and drivers.
* Receives and carries out instructions.
* Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
* Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Knowledge or willingness to learn how to identify tractor, trailer, and refer defects.
* Excellent mechanical aptitude.
* Ability to identify mechanical issues.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to create and read work orders.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or
training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Must be able to work safely in a fast-paced, noisy environment around moving equipment.
* Ability to regularly lift 50lbs and occasionally lift up to 100lbs.
* Must be able to inspect vehicles to determine repairs needed.
* Good vision to inspect repair work.
* Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

DOT brake inspection certification as required by supervisor and/or location
