THE TYPE OF CANDIDATE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 21+ years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from P.O.S.T. Academy
- Valid driver's license
- LEO and/or Corrections P.O.S.T. certified
- Ability to work rotating shifts and on-call assignments as needed
- Ability to maintain required annual training and certifications
- Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and investigative techniques
- Standard first-aid administration skills
- Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate motor vehicles at high speed and in dangerous situations
- Ability to use airboat, ATV, firearms, and police equipment
- Physically and mentally prepared to respond to emergency situations

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY AS A DEPUTY SHERIFF
This is a full-time position, and employees report to a central location before traveling to their assigned service area, with rotating shifts and on-call responsibilities as needed.
As our Deputy Sheriff, you'll spend your days protecting the community through proactive patrol, responding to calls for service, investigating incidents, assisting accident victims, enforcing traffic and criminal laws, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, supporting search and rescue efforts, and helping resolve disputes with professionalism and tact. You'll also play an important role in maintaining courtroom security, assisting the public with court-related questions, protecting county facilities and personnel, and ensuring that every interaction reflects the highest standards of law enforcement service.
