MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. Electrical Engineering or equivalent related experience
  • 5+ years' experience with electrical design in a new product and/or support in a manufacturing environment required
  • 3+ years with MSEE

ABOUT THE JOB!

The position is responsible for detailed electrical design and support of noise-attenuating headsets, microphones, earplugs, and communication systems in the Situational Awareness Value Stream (SAVS) division.  New product implementation, and continuing product improvement efforts are primary responsibilities of this position. The right person will also serve as a technical resource in the department with the expectation that they will mentor and guide other engineers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Responsible for the detailed design, schematic capture and layout of electronic circuits (power, digital, embedded, and analog) 

• Responsible for the creation and engineering release of electronic assembly data packages for manufacturing of printed circuit boards and system assemblies

• Create detailed system block diagrams and schematics for the use in documenting support equipment used in manufacturing processes

• Create test plans, coordinate testing/validation and generate engineering/qualification reports

• Support appropriate testing processes and equipment used in the production of components and assemblies

• Maintaining electrical component database with regards to adding components for new designs

• Support supply chain and manufacturing to aid in transitioning new products to production

• Record, analyze and interpret test data using appropriate mathematical and/or statistical techniques

• Prepare and present technical reports, recommendations and presentations related to development and manufacturing process and product studies

• Assist and coordinate with other engineers, designers, and technicians in the execution of electrical engineering tasks related to new product development activities

• Assist with the transition of products from design to manufacturing providing assurance and logistic support functions to ensure product designs that are producible and maintainable.

• Report regularly on project status and progress, especially noting variance from baseline projections.

• Review designs to improve reliability, testability, and ease of manufacture

• Occasionally support product field failure analysis; address potential quality concerns or product alterations

• Participate in technical aspects of cost estimation and cost control/reduction for new project planning



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principals; must have knowledge of analog, digital, embedded, and power electronic systems

• Experience in digital design with embedded controllers and/or digital signal processors

• Experience in analog and/or audio design, such as microphone amplifiers, audio filters

• Experience in designing with linear and switch mode regulators

• Experience with EMI measurement and mitigation techniques

• Experience developing systems which include DSP, ARM, microcontroller, and other modern processors 

• Problem-solving skills with practical understanding of root cause analysis tools and methods

• Ability to read electrical component datasheet; familiarity with major component manufacturers 

• Ability to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization, both verbally and in writing 

• J-STD experience


PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of ISO9000/ AS9100 regulations 

• Knowledge of acoustic measurement systems 

• Experience with embedded software languages 

• Experience using electrical schematic capture and PCB layout toolsets; Cadence/Allegro preferred; Mentor Graphic 

• Experience in manufacturing of electro-mechanical assemblies; Knowledge of electro-acoustic components 

• Knowledge of military qualification standards including MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 

• Understanding of qualification test plan and report development as well as execution
