Coopers Houston is recruiting an experienced Foundry Operator – Continuous Casting for a growing industrial manufacturing operation in the Houston, Texas area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Foundry Operator, Continuous Casting Operator, Furnace Operator, Casting Operator, Melting Operator, Metallurgical Operator, Foundry Worker, or Metal Manufacturing Operator with experience working in high-temperature industrial environments.

The Foundry Operator will operate and monitor melting furnaces, continuous casting equipment, auxiliary systems, and metallurgical processes while ensuring production parameters, safety requirements, and product quality specifications are maintained.

The ideal candidate will have experience in foundry operations, continuous casting, metal processing, non-ferrous metals, furnace operation, metallurgy, or industrial manufacturing.

Foundry Operator Responsibilities

Foundry & Furnace Operations

  • Operate and monitor foundry furnaces and auxiliary equipment from the control panel.
  • Monitor furnace operating conditions and production parameters.
  • Verify proper operation of gas, air, nitrogen, water, and cooling systems.
  • Operate equipment safely in a high-temperature industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Monitor temperatures and other critical operating parameters.
  • Identify abnormal operating conditions and communicate issues to the appropriate production personnel.

Melting & Metallurgical Processes

  • Control melting charge composition according to production programs and chemical specifications.
  • Follow established procedures for melting and metallurgical treatment processes.
  • Execute metallurgical treatments according to production requirements.
  • Monitor chemical and metallurgical parameters throughout the production process.
  • Ensure materials and production inputs meet established specifications.
  • Support consistent and reliable production of quality metal products.

Continuous Casting Operations

  • Operate and monitor continuous casting processes.
  • Maintain required casting and metallurgical parameters.
  • Monitor critical control points to prevent product quality deviations.
  • Identify process abnormalities and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Coordinate with Production and Quality personnel when process deviations occur.
  • Follow established continuous casting procedures and operating instructions.

Quality Control

  • Monitor production conditions that may affect product quality.
  • Identify, report, and document non-conformities.
  • Work closely with Quality Inspectors and Production teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Follow product specifications, production procedures, and quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality-related records.

Production Data & ERP Systems

  • Record production data, downtime, production output, and operating information.
  • Enter accurate production information into ERP systems.
  • SAP experience is preferred.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  • Communicate production deviations and downtime issues to supervisors.

Maintenance & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with Maintenance teams regarding equipment issues and required repairs.
  • Work with Quality Inspectors to address quality and process deviations.
  • Coordinate with Shift Supervisors regarding production, safety, and operational issues.
  • Support corrective and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Report equipment abnormalities and unsafe operating conditions promptly.

Raw Material & Inventory Control

  • Perform inventory control of raw materials and casting inputs.
  • Verify material availability for production.
  • Maintain accurate material usage and inventory records.
  • Ensure proper handling and use of production materials.

Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Strictly follow all workplace safety requirements.
  • Comply with environmental and occupational health standards.
  • Follow procedures for working around furnaces, molten metal, industrial machinery, gases, water systems, and high-temperature equipment.
  • Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, hazards, and environmental concerns.
  • Maintain a strong safety-focused approach in all foundry operations.

Requirements

Foundry Operator Qualifications

Education

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:

  • Technical studies in:
    • Foundry
    • Metallurgy
    • Industrial Production
    • Manufacturing
    • Mechanical or Industrial Technology
    • Related technical disciplines

Professional Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in foundry, metal manufacturing, industrial production, or related operations.
  • Experience with foundry operations preferred.
  • Experience with continuous casting or vertical casting processes preferred.
  • Experience in non-ferrous metal industries highly valued.
  • Experience operating industrial furnaces.
  • Experience monitoring and controlling furnace temperatures.
  • Experience working in high-temperature industrial environments.
  • Experience working in physically demanding manufacturing environments.

Ideal Foundry Operator Candidate

We are seeking a hands-on Foundry Operator – Continuous Casting with experience working in metal manufacturing, foundry operations, furnace operations, or other high-temperature industrial environments.

The ideal candidate understands the importance of maintaining precise operating parameters, following metallurgical specifications, monitoring equipment, documenting production information, and maintaining a safe workplace.

Experience with continuous casting, vertical casting, non-ferrous metals, furnace operation, melting processes, or metallurgy is highly valued.

Spanish fluency and willingness to travel to Peru for technical training are required.
