Kumho Tire Georgia is seeking an Environmental, Safety, and Health Coordinator to support Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs at our manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations while managing programs related to air quality, stormwater, wastewater, hazardous waste, solid waste, recycling, chemical management, and environmental reporting.

Job Summary

The Environmental Compliance Coordinator supports day-to-day environmental compliance activities for a large industrial manufacturing operation. This position manages environmental permits, regulatory reporting, compliance inspections, environmental documentation, and corrective actions while working closely with plant leadership, production teams, contractors, vendors, and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements.
• Support environmental compliance activities involving the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD), and local regulatory agencies.
• Manage environmental permits, including required renewals, modifications, documentation, and compliance activities.
• Support air quality and air permitting requirements, including compliance monitoring, recordkeeping, and regulatory reporting.
• Manage the facility's Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and associated stormwater inspections, documentation, and compliance activities.
• Support wastewater and NPDES permit compliance, monitoring, documentation, and reporting.
• Manage hazardous waste programs in accordance with RCRA requirements, including proper handling, storage, documentation, and disposal practices.
• Coordinate solid waste, recycling, and waste reduction activities.
• Support environmental requirements related to biosolids and land application programs.
• Maintain chemical compliance programs, including EPCRA and Tier II reporting requirements.
• Conduct environmental compliance inspections and internal audits to identify potential regulatory or operational gaps.
• Develop, track, and implement corrective actions resulting from environmental audits, inspections, or compliance concerns.
• Monitor changes to environmental regulations and communicate potential compliance impacts and risks to plant leadership.
• Prepare and submit required environmental reports accurately and within established regulatory deadlines.
• Maintain organized environmental records, permits, inspection documentation, monitoring data, and regulatory correspondence.
• Monitor environmental control equipment and coordinate necessary maintenance, repairs, or capital improvements.
• Develop and deliver environmental compliance training for supervisors, employees, and other appropriate personnel.
• Communicate professionally with environmental regulators, contractors, consultants, vendors, and other external partners.
• Support continuous improvement, pollution prevention, waste reduction, and sustainability initiatives across the facility.
• Assist with other Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental compliance, environmental management, EHS, or a related function within a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
• Knowledge of EPA regulations, Georgia EPD requirements, RCRA, NPDES, SWPPP, air permitting, hazardous waste management, EPCRA, and Tier II reporting.
• Experience maintaining environmental permits, compliance documentation, and regulatory reports preferred.
• Ability to conduct environmental audits and inspections, analyze compliance information, identify deficiencies, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Strong organizational, planning, documentation, and time-management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with production, engineering, maintenance, leadership, and other cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage multiple environmental programs, deadlines, and regulatory requirements simultaneously.
• Ability to respond appropriately to time-sensitive environmental or compliance issues.

Work Environment

This position supports environmental compliance throughout an active tire manufacturing facility and is not exclusively an office-based role. The Environmental Compliance Coordinator must be comfortable spending time in production, utility, waste management, and other industrial areas while conducting inspections, audits, investigations, and environmental monitoring activities.

The role may require work in both indoor and outdoor environments and exposure to changing seasonal temperatures, including Georgia heat and humidity. Employees may also encounter noise, industrial equipment, manufacturing processes, and other conditions typical of a large manufacturing facility.
