POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Plant Manager for our Macon, Georgia location who is responsible for overseeing day-to-day production, supply chain, and plant operations to ensure efficiency, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role aligns production goals with organizational objectives, leads and develops teams, and ensures effective coordination across departments to meet customer and business requirements. The Assistant Plant Manager drives continuous improvement, lean manufacturing initiatives, and cost optimization while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Plant Manager provides leadership to the manufacturing site, ensuring that operations serve customers effectively while supporting IMMI’s corporate mission, culture, and objectives. This role oversees both core operational activities and non-operational site functions, managing resources, ensuring timely deliverables, and maintaining operational excellence. The Plant Manager drives productivity, enforces compliance with safety and quality standards, manages budgets and plant resources, and leads cross-functional teams to meet customer expectations and operational KPIs within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities/ Essential Functions:

  • Provide a strong example for management within the IMMI structure, ensure each team member has clear goals and objectives and growth pathways.
  • Develop and implement accounts, pricing strategies, analysis of financial reports, VAVE, forecasting, product launches, and aligning day-to-day operations. 
  • Pursue excellence in general safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Ensure inventory, prevent waste, higher product quality, exceed customer delivery expectations, and other duties as required. 
  • Lead safety culture through continuous improvements, decreasing RI and LWC’s, committing to zero defects, and a “quality at the source” mentality.
  • Achieve customer delivery expectations and support key functional short lead time opportunities without excessive costs. 
  • Review plant and training needs and keep informed of day-to-day operations to ensure execution of appropriate policies and procedures. 
  • Determine priorities and direct actions required to best address the need in accordance with the department and business goals when conflicting situations arise.
  • Equip key leaders with training to grow their change agility capacity, critical thinking skills, and internal drive for success. 
  • Protect and foster IMMI’s mission and core values within the IMMI site and local communities creating an environment that empowers others to achieve their highest potential and satisfaction in the IMMI mission. 


Skills & Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of applicable experience in operations, leading teams in high pressure environments with fast-paced deliverables. 
  • Comprehensive understanding of business operations and logistics to maintain organization and systems of processes
  • Proven ability to manage large teams, production lines, and multi-shift operations.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Must comply with legal and corporate responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to visually inspect and interpret designs on screen and in print.
  • Use of functional Core Tools


Working Conditions/Environment:

  • This work is deadline-oriented, requires multitasking, fluctuating work schedule, and flexibility within the workday
  • Frequent use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary
  • Requires the ability for close vision, distance vision and depth perception
  • Requires working and interacting with others, both in person and through phone, electronic, and written correspondence, and the ability to listen effectively, communicate clearly, maintain attention to detail, and perform focused work
  • The following motions can be required during the day: Standing or sitting for extended periods of time, stepping up & down, balancing, bending (hip & knees), reaching, standing, walking, pulling, pushing, lifting (from floor to waist, waist to chest, chest to head), observing, hearing, grasping, pressing, and other repetitive actions
  • This work requires the proper attire and use of PPE which can include eyewear, steel toed protection, hard hat, gloves, earbuds, and other PPE as deemed necessary


Compensation Classification:

FLSA Status: Exempt (subject to review based on actual job duties and compensation)
