POWDER COATER AND PAINT TECHNICIAN.
RRT is looking for a General Powder Coater and Paint Technician to join our specialist alloy wheel refurbishment team at our Luton centre. This is an excellent opportunity to build your career within a growing, high-quality alloy wheel diamond cut and powder coating facility.
YOUR ROLE.
As a General Powder Coater and Paint Technician, you’ll be responsible for preparing, coating, and finishing alloy wheels to the highest standards using our professional powder coating and wet paint systems. Working within our fast-paced workshop, you’ll ensure every wheel receives a flawless, durable finish while following our strict quality and safety processes. This hands-on role requires proven experience, precision, and a dedication to producing exceptional results, including bespoke finishes and detailed masking.
THE MAIN DUTIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE:
Inspect wheels prior to preparation and identify any defects or required repairs
Prepare wheels for coating, including chemical stripping, blasting, sanding, and masking
Operate powder coating equipment, spray booths, and curing ovens to apply primers, powders, colours, and clear coats
Mix and apply wet paints where required, ensuring accurate colour matching and coverage
Carry out post-finish inspections to ensure coatings meet company and industry quality standards
Maintain equipment, booths, and work areas to ensure consistent performance and safe operation
Work efficiently to meet daily production targets and KPIs
Record work completed and report any issues, defects, or equipment concerns
Follow all Health & Safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised, hazard-free workspace
Collaborate with colleagues across the refurbishment team to maintain smooth workflow and customer satisfaction
Carry out bespoke wheel finishes and detailed masking to achieve complex OEM and customer-specific designs
YOUR PROFILE.
Previous alloy wheel refurbishment experience is required, with a good
Understanding of the full preparation and coating process
Strong knowledge of powder coating, wet painting, and curing methods
Excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality and consistency
Confident working independently within a busy workshop environment
Good problem-solving ability and adaptability when working with different wheel designs and finishes
Lathe experience preferred but not essential
Eligible to work in the UK and hold a valid UK Driving Licence (preferred)
SALARY AND HOURS.
Salary: £37,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am-5:30pm one hour lunch break.
