MEP Project Engineer IIĀ

SUMMARYĀ Ā 

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced MEP Project Engineer II with the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.Ā  The Project Engineer will review, provide analysis, management, and resolution of field coordination issues with project team members and participants.Ā

RESPONSIBILITIESĀ 

  • Interpret project plans, specifications, and details for subcontractors and craft personsĀ 

  • Implement the pre-construction quality planĀ 

  • Obtain and maintain construction permits; manage fee payments and recurring permit expensesĀ 

  • Develop and maintain Material Tracking List, Project Test and Inspection Listing, Non-Conformance ReportĀ 

  • Develop equipment coordination, furnishings, fixtures matrices, and coordination matrix for source sizing, compatibility, and controlĀ 

  • Manage, create, and distribute contract documentsĀ 

  • Lead and direct the 3-D coordination process to resolve conflicts before installationĀ 

  • Establish handling procedures for electronic documents (RFIs, correspondence)Ā 

  • Incorporate processes and procedures for project closeout phaseĀ 

  • Manage all aspects of testing and inspection processes for construction quality managementĀ 

  • Implement three-phase inspection systemĀ 

  • Establish reporting formats, protocols, schedules, and off-site testing proceduresĀ 

  • Notify Project Manager and Superintendent of non-conforming test results or inspection itemsĀ 

  • Assist in the commissioning process, including startup plan, COT, commissioning schedule, and functional testingĀ 

  • Manage submittals: set up register, prepare transmittal forms, coordinate packaging, review, and processingĀ 

  • Expedite submittals to align with project scheduleĀ 

  • Communicate submittal process details to subcontractors and suppliersĀ 

  • Issue submittal requirement lettersĀ 

  • Provide periodic updates of submittal register to customer or architectĀ 

  • Coordinate subcontractor details: verify insurance, prepare paperwork, request final paymentĀ 

  • Lead project closeout activities: operations and maintenance manuals, model turnover, trainingĀ 

  • Develop and distribute RFIs and Change OrdersĀ 

  • Define and implement procedures for posting revisions and updates to as-built construction documentsĀ 

  • Incorporate subcontractor as-built documentation into contract document updatesĀ 

  • Determine alternative work methods as neededĀ 

  • Coordinate safety and compliance for all team membersĀ 

  • Maintain schedule of timelines and ensure completionĀ

QUALIFICATIONSĀ 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction ManagementĀ Ā 

  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasksĀ 

  • Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practicesĀ 

  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skillsĀ 

  • Microsoft Office, project and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate levelĀ 

  • Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skillsĀ 

  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policiesĀ Ā 

  • Minimum three years construction experience, preferably experience with a Mechanical or Electrical ContractorĀ Ā 

  • Current driver’s licenseĀ 

  • Ability to travel 100%

The base pay range for this role is $93,400 - $126,100. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).Ā

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.Ā  This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.Ā
