Vitesse Systems is looking for a Test Engineer II to join the team in Longmont, Colorado! The Test Engineer collaborates with RF & Mechanical Engineers to develop Test Plans, Test Bill of Materials, Test Layouts, Test Procedures, Test Data Processing, and Test Readiness Review packages. In addition, the test engineer assists technicians with the setup and execution of various tests to verify, analyze, and evaluate product performance against customer specifications. The Test Engineer also provides support, training, and troubleshooting to the Test Technicians.

The Role

The primary responsibilities of the Test Engineer are to interface with RF and Mechanical Engineers to develop various test documentation, assist technicians with setup and execution of tests, as well as providing support, training, and troubleshooting to the technicians.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, perform, and ensure the quality of RF Bench, Near field and Far field Radiation Patterns, Passive Intermodulation, High RF Power, Thermal Vacuum, and other tests on systems and components in accordance with test procedures.
  • Develop test requirements and verification methods through close collaboration with the RF, Mechanical, and Systems Engineering teams.
  • Identify testing methods and test fixturing for risk mitigation, prototype development and requirement verification testing.
  • Collaborate interdepartmentally to review and approve Test Plans, Test Procedures, and Test Reports. 
  • Debug various test issues as they arise and review data.
  • Coordinate or lead with RF and Mechanical Designers to generate, review, and approve test layout models and drawings. 
  • Generate Test Readiness Review (TRR) packages and support customer reviews as required.
  • Review customer specifications to ensure test requirements can be met with sufficient accuracy.
  • Generate and review test plans, test procedures, and review test reports.
  • Assist with technical proposals. 
  • Develop and configure methods to efficiently process data and control RF test equipment
  • Provide project support including, but not limited to: design reviews, presentations, data reviews, and production support.
  • Provide auxiliary support as a Test Technician as required. 
  • Provide support, training, and troubleshooting to Test Technicians as required. 
  • Create and update I&T-related Work Instructions and Processes. 
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, or related discipline
  • At least 5 years industry experience
  • Strong familiarity with RF test equipment and measurement techniques
  • Strong familiarity with communication systems and RF/microwave components
  • Familiarity with environmental test methods, systems, and equipment
  • Familiar with creating budgets for test uncertainties and RF power/link analysis
  • Programming/scripting skills
  • Good bookkeeping and data management skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfort working both independently and within a team environment
