Job DetailsJob Location: Cash-Wa Lincoln - Lincoln, NE 68528Position Type: Full TimeTransportation Manager (East) As a subsidiary of a growing Fortune 100 company, due to retirement we are hiring a Transportation manager which will oversee at least 4 depot locations.  This is a fast-paced role that needs to be able to lead and mentor a team as well as be able to work with customers, make decisions and find creative solutions, as well as be able to cover a route if needed!       Location: This position will primarily work out of the Lincoln, Nebraska office but will visit other locations as needed as well as travel to the main office in Kearney as necessary.   Position Purpose: Manages all aspects of the transportation function in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment, including selection of qualified drivers, routing, driving, safety, unloading, fleet maintenance, customer/driver relationships, and Department of Transportation (DOT) and Operating Company (OpCo) compliance. Includes involvement with the driver selection and orientation process, handling employee relations issues including disciplinary action, monitoring DOT and Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) compliance, managing Transportation Supervisors and monitoring the routing process to ensure customer satisfaction. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.   Major Functional Responsibilities: Supervises Transportation Supervisor and/or staff of drivers to ensure deliveries are made in a safe, efficient and timely manner, maintaining dependability and customer satisfaction. Manages staff of drivers; hires, schedules, provides training and guidance, establishes job standards and regularly evaluates performance. Oversees day-to-day administration of delivery function including: managing, monitoring and approving department expenses, calculating driver payroll, reviewing driver trip and expense reports, and identifying and resolving problems. Operates a computer keyboard to enter and access data in automated fleet management system (e.g., Samsara and Bohdi); ensures truck computer system is monitored and maintained. Prepares annual transportation operating budget; performs cost analyses (e.g., truck leases, fuel consumption, etc.) and coordinates financial reporting. Works closely with Warehouse Manager to ensure the highest level of efficiency within the operation. Responsible for scheduling truck deliveries and routing on a daily basis, including backhauls, and changing routes accordingly to meet customer needs and to maximize route profitability. Responsible for equipment scheduling and maintenance. Analyzes equipment   Education/Training/Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred; preferably in Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Communication or related field 5 years of related experience required 6 months of supervisory or management experience required   Required Qualifications: Have Class A CDL Have a good driving record Training experience, including 1 year of people management experience. Must be comfortable in dynamic environment which may include ambiguity and frequent changes. Project management experience. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization. Ability to moderate large groups and lead initiatives with minimal guidance.   Required Qualifications: Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is preferred   Physical and Environmental Requirements Office (at least 50%) Driving and/or delivering (up to 25% expected)   Travel Requirements Estimated to be 50%   Freedom To Act Work is accomplished without considerable direction. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria in obtaining results. Exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of assignment.  Takes calculated risks with consultation from the expert.   Problem Complexity and Problem-Solving Timeframes Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of variable factors.  Constructs and may pursue alternative paths towards a solution. Exercises judgment in selecting method, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results consistent with broadly defined policies and practices.  Problem/Task resolution timeframe: Inclusive of shorter timeframes, but typically six to twelve months or more to resolve.   Level of Supervision Received Uses policies and general objectives with little functional guidance. Rarely refers specific cases to management unless clarification or interpretation of organization policies is involved.   Impact Failure to obtain results or erroneous judgments or recommendations would normally have serious results and may require substantial expenditure of resources to correct and/or achieve goals.   Contact with Others Represents the organization as the primary contact. Interacts with management and senior value-chain partners on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Achievement of objectives requires ability to influence others both internally and potentially externally.Qualifications
