Start a Career in Biomedical Equipment Service

Medical Application Repair & Sales (MARS) is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined person who wants to start a career in the biomedical equipment field.

You do not need years of biomedical experience for this position.

We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, enjoys working with their hands, and wants a job where every day is a little different.

This is an entry-level position designed to work alongside our experienced biomedical technicians. You will travel with technicians to hospitals, surgery centers, physician offices, and other medical facilities throughout the Southeast, helping with equipment inspections, repairs, installations, and service projects.

As you learn the equipment and our processes, we want this position to grow into a Biomedical Equipment Technician role with increasing independence and responsibility.

What You'll Do

You'll serve as an extra set of hands for our biomedical service team, including:

  • Travel with and assist MARS biomedical technicians on service calls and projects
  • Help load, unload, transport, and organize tools and medical equipment
  • Assist technicians with preventive maintenance inspections and equipment repairs
  • Help with equipment installations, removals, and replacements
  • Drive company vehicles between MARS and customer facilities
  • Pick up and deliver equipment, parts, and supplies
  • Help prepare tools, parts, and equipment for upcoming service jobs
  • Clean, organize, and maintain the service area, shop, and company vehicles
  • Assist with receiving, unpacking, testing, and preparing equipment
  • Learn how to identify, inspect, troubleshoot, and service different types of medical equipment
  • Help wherever needed around the MARS office and service department

Equipment You'll Have the Opportunity to Learn

Depending on the project, you may work alongside our technicians on equipment such as:

  • Sterilizers and autoclaves
  • Patient monitors
  • Anesthesia machines
  • Medical gas systems
  • Surgical equipment
  • Ultrasound systems
  • OR tables
  • Defibrillators
  • General biomedical equipment

We don't expect you to know how to work on all of this when you start. We'll teach you.

Who We're Looking For

This could be a great fit if you:

  • Enjoy taking things apart, fixing things, or figuring out how things work
  • Are mechanically or technically inclined
  • Are dependable and show up when you're supposed to
  • Are comfortable driving and traveling throughout the region
  • Don't mind getting your hands dirty
  • Can lift and move equipment with assistance
  • Are comfortable working in hospitals, surgery centers, and other healthcare environments
  • Can communicate professionally with customers and coworkers
  • Are willing to learn from experienced technicians
  • Have a valid driver's license and a good driving record
  • Want a position where you can develop a skilled trade and build a long-term career

Experience with automotive repair, maintenance, HVAC, electrical work, electronics, mechanical equipment, military technical work, or similar hands-on fields is a plus, but biomedical experience is not required.

What This Position Can Become

We are not looking for someone to stay an assistant forever.

Our goal is to train the right person to become increasingly comfortable working with medical equipment and eventually progress into a Biomedical Equipment Technician capable of performing inspections, troubleshooting equipment, completing repairs, and handling service calls independently.

If you're mechanically inclined, dependable, and willing to learn, we'll provide the opportunity to develop the technical skills.

About MARS

Medical Application Repair & Sales is a growing medical equipment service and sales company based in Lexington, South Carolina. We work with surgery centers, physician practices, and other healthcare facilities throughout the Southeast.

Our technicians work on a wide variety of equipment, so this isn't a job where you'll spend every day doing the exact same thing. One day may involve helping repair a sterilizer, the next installing equipment at a surgery center, and another assisting with preventive maintenance inspections.

If you're looking for a hands-on job where you can learn a specialized technical trade and grow with the company, we'd like to hear from you.
