 Position Description

The Rotary Fill Packager is responsible for operating and maintaining rotary filling and packaging equipment to ensure the accurate filling, sealing, and labeling of supplements, powders, and other products.

 Essential Responsibilities

Filling & Packaging

  • Prepares product into bulk, filled bottles, or packaging for packing and shipment.
  • Ensures precise filling of capsules, powders, tablets, or liquids into containers, pouches, or bottles.
  • Replenishes packaging supplies such as boxes, shrink-wrap, labels, or pallets.
  • Operates basic machinery with the ability to make minor adjustments or repairs, including starting, stopping, or regulating the speed of a conveyor, and starting, stopping, or setting up a tape machine.

Quality & Documentation

  • Inspects materials, products, and containers for non-conformances at each step of the packaging process; inspects filled containers to ensure product is packaged according to specifications.
  • Ensures correct count, accurate label placement, batch codes, and lids for each bottle; works from technical data to ensure quality production runs.
  • Logs and reports production information in written and electronic form, including batch code, time, and date packaged, as well as the number of items or cartons received from or returned to the warehouse.
  • Identifies boxes and pallets with the correct customer's work order information.

 Additional Responsibilities

  • Contributes to department team incentive goals, based on productivity in both quantity and quality of work and the accuracy to which the job and/or processes are completed; each team member is dependent upon the contribution level of their co-workers.
  • Cross-trains and demonstrates competency on all essential job functions of the packaging department as part of the production team.
  • Supports and is involved in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs, and activities.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

 Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Competencies / Skill Qualifications

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic computer skills to input data into the database.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current food handler's permit.
  • English proficiency required.

 Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and converse and listen.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver items overhead as part of routine job duties.
  • Employee must exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.

6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Monday-Friday, includes Saturdays towards the end of the month
