Inszone Insurance | Rancho Cordova, CA — Onsite | Accounting Department

Classification: Non-Exempt | Hourly Compensation: $26.00 – $28.00 / hour Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

About the Role

We're looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk with 1–3 years of experience to join our team. In this role, you'll support the accurate and timely processing of employee pay, commission calculations, and payroll-related recordkeeping.

What You'll Do

  • Process bi-weekly/semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees
  • Enter and verify timekeeping data, including hours worked, overtime, and Vacation
  • Calculating and process deductions (taxes, benefits, garnishments, retirement contributions)
  • Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve employee pay inquiries
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files in compliance with company policy
  • Assist with processing new hires, terminations, and status changes in the payroll system
  • Support preparation of payroll reports for management and accounting
  • Assist with year-end processes, including W-2 preparation
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and payroll data

  • Payroll is processed accurately and on time every cycle
  • Discrepancies are identified quickly and resolved with minimal disruption to employees
  • Payroll records and employee files are complete, accurate, and audit-ready
  • Federal, state, and local payroll compliance is consistently maintained
  • Employee and payroll data is always handled with discretion and confidentiality

Qualifications

Required

  • 1–3 years of payroll or related accounting experience
  • High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in accounting, Business, or related field preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Understanding of basic payroll tax and wage/hour regulations
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred

  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Heartland, or similar)
  • FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or working toward certification
  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems
