Role Summary

SLEMCO is seeking a System Support Specialist I & II to help administer and support the Cooperative’s information systems so employees can work efficiently and securely. This role focuses on troubleshooting and maintaining networked systems, coordinating updates, and ensuring reliable access to critical applications.

Key responsibilities include:
- Responding to internal/external inquiries and diagnosing hardware, software, and user issues
- Assisting users with network connectivity, access, and password support
- Performing updates, backups, installations, and implementations of software/hardware
- Maintaining mainframe and PC network operations by isolating faults, adding/removing devices, loading applications, and testing software

Required qualifications/skills:
- B.S. in Information Technology
- Working knowledge of data processing principles, LAN administration, and information systems support
- Strong independent judgment, analysis, and clear written/oral communication

A Typical Workday

As a System Support Specialist I & II, your day is driven by service and accuracy. You will triage incoming requests, document what you find, and communicate next steps to keep work moving. Between requests, you’ll monitor the health of core systems, verify backups, and follow scheduled change windows to roll out updates with minimal disruption. You may move between desks, server areas, and networked devices to confirm connections, validate configurations, and ensure users have the access they need. You’ll also coordinate with teammates on priorities, escalate issues when appropriate, and close the loop with users once service is restored and verified.
