THIS POSITION IS IN KNOXVILLE, TN

The Medical Administrative Specialist 2 is a part of the University Family Physicians billing staff. This position enters office and hospital charges for the practice. Additionally, this position processes patient and insurance payments, refunds, insurance claims, and assists in working accounts receivables.

Responsibilities

  1. Enters data of charges from the office, hospital, and wound care setting.
  2. Maintains daily missing ticket report.
  3. Handles UHN encounter form audits.
  4. Collect patient payments and establish payment plans for patients.
  5. Provides customer service to patients regarding their accounts and balances.
  6. Transmits charges and patient statements to the clearinghouse.
  7. Processes patient refunds.
  8. Assists with data entry of insurance and patient payments.
  9. Covers various position in the front office; assists with insurance and billings questions.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT IS REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in a medical office setting; OR Associate’s Degree in lieu of experience. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including oral, written, and listening skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy work environment.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to work in Microsoft Office.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:  This position may occasionally be required to work evenings.
