PLC Chair  (Internal Candidates only):

 

The PLC Chair provides instructional leadership and enhances student achievement on assessments regarding curriculum alignment, development and implementation of common assessments for the use of professional development strategies that most appropriately meet the needs of students.


The duties of the PLC Chair are critical to the overall educational program of the school and require effective and ongoing communication and collaboration between students and staff, classroom staff and support staff, and stakeholders with the administration.  It is anticipated that this role will require up to 40 hours of time outside of normal contracted hours.

 

Required Job Functions:

 

1. Attend the Leadership Team meeting one time per month, the (PLC Chair) meeting one time per month, serves on sub-committees as needed, and gives staff thoughts to administration and administrative views to staff.

 

2. Facilitates regular PLC meetings, creates agendas, and ensures minutes are documented

 

3. Along with the department PLC members, identifies needs (pertaining to curriculum,

supplementary materials, etc. and communicates with the Curriculum Director who will present them during IL/principal meetings for consideration as needed.


4. When notified of a new hire, provide initial communication to introduce yourself, review the district curriculum and resources, add them to needed drives, and answer questions. In the case of a long-term substitute, support in the same manner as a new teacher.

 

5. Provide support and advice to teachers in the department/PLC as needed throughout the school year.

 

6. Keeps an updated list of names, e-mails, and contact numbers of all PLC members and distributes it to all members.
