National Fulfillment Services (NFS), a subsidiary of Metro Supply Chain, is seeking an experienced and results-driven General Manager to lead a high-volume distribution operation. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, driving operational excellence, leading financial performance, and developing high-performing teams within a fast-paced 3PL environment. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with a proven track record of managing customer relationships, optimizing warehouse operations, and driving continuous improvement.

 

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure a safe workplace by implementing and upholding safety programs that comply with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Enforce SOPs and best practices that support a safe working environment.
  • Monitor and address injury levels and equipment/product damage to prevent workplace incidents.

Customer & Operational Leadership

  • Serve as the primary customer liaison, maintaining strong relationships through daily contact, weekly reviews, and monthly KPI/financial reporting.
  • Lead change management initiatives, driving adoption of new processes, technologies, and operational best practices.
  • Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges, including inventory management, transportation issues, labor fluctuations, and system disruptions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, Finance, Engineering, HR, and CI teams) to drive efficiencies and service improvements.

Financial & P&L Management

  • Ensure operations are aligned with budgetary goals, making data-driven decisions to optimize resources and control costs.
  • Review forecasts, inventory reports, and sales orders to plan for warehouse fluctuations and volume demands.
  • Lead financial performance reviews with customers on a monthly/quarterly basis, addressing key financial metrics and cost-saving strategies.

Talent Development & Engagement

  • Hire, develop, and retain high-performing teams, ensuring leaders are well-trained and equipped to meet customer contract requirements.
  • Promote a positive work culture through employee engagement programs, regular meetings, and continuous feedback.
  • Drive succession planning by identifying and developing future leaders within the organization.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Maintain current and effective SOPs that uphold service quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and warehouse best practices.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes and drive year-over-year improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • 10 years of distribution and supply chain experience, including at least 5 years leading operations within a 3PL, contract logistics, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment.
  • Strong understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory control processes, and operational reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated success managing customer relationships, operational KPIs, budgets, and full P&L accountability.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and data analytics tools.
