Job Description:

Oversee the safe operation of the KCAI Central Shop during shifts. Supervise patron use of the machines and tools. Set up and demonstrate correct procedures, including blade and bit selection, proper use of fences, jigs, and fixtures. Contact security/911 in cases of injury or emergency. Check out/check in tools. Oversee student materials and project storage. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as blade cleaning, filling glue bottles, straightening tool storage, waxing machine tables, cleaning out sawdust from under saws,  and cleaning clogged dust collection systems. Perform prescribed closing procedures. All shop employees are to participate in the end of the semester clean up. 

FERPA Privacy Training is required for this position.

Qualifications/Skills Needed: 

Participation in the Central Shop training program is required. Reliable, responsible, organized. Ability to communicate concepts and safety procedures with a helpful and positive demeanor. Ability to follow directions and integrate supervisor feedback for skill development. Basic knowledge of SketchUp and Illustrator is a plus.
