Title: GIS Intern II
Department/Division: GIS
Status: Unpaid / Temporary / Part Time
Supervisor: GIS Director

POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an unpaid, temporary, part-time position. A minimum of 16 hours per week must be worked to maintain the internship. Works under the direction of the GIS Director to assist in running and maintaining the Tribe’s GIS program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists GIS staff in:
- Fulfilling map and GIS data requests.
- Scan and organizes paper records / digital records.
- Updating and maintaining the Tribe’s GIS datasets, geodatabases and excel records.
- Maintaining the Tribe’s Enterprise Geodatabase and GIS Portal.
- Creating new GIS data as needed through various methods such as manual data entry/georeferencing/digitizing from paper records, AutoCAD drawing conversion and GPS data collection in the field.
- Migrating new data into the Tribes Enterprise Geodatabase for use by Tribal departments.
- Maintaining data integrity through data verification, quality assurance and quality control.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, CERTIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Pro 3.x, ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.
- Knowledge of geodatabase creation, schema design and functionality including relationships, domains, subtypes, topologies, and networks.
- Knowledge of map production and basic cartography.
- Knowledge of GIS workstations and peripheral scanning and plotting equipment.
- Ability to use GPS equipment and associated software such as Trimble Access/ArcGIS Field Maps.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current or completed course work in Geographic Information Systems at an accredited college or university. An AA degree, Certificate in GIS, ESRI course completion, and / or prior GIS work experience is a plus but not required.
- Must have a valid California Driver’s License.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must acknowledge and agree to maintain a Drug-Free workplace (including marijuana) as a condition of employment with the Pala Band of Mission Indians. Must pass pre-internship and random drug testing during the internship.
- Must successfully pass a Fingerprint-based background check of potential employees, volunteers, and contractors pursuant to Public Law 101-630 - Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act
