Leading Freight Forwarder / NVOCC/ Customs House Broker/ Tank Container Operator, with locations in 24 countries and over 3300 employees strong, is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the position of Import Customer Service Representative – Customs Entry Writer in our Jersey City, NJ office.

What You'll Do
- Prepare, review, and submit customs entries for import shipments through U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and government agency requirements, including FDA, USDA, Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS), and other regulatory agencies.
- Review commercial invoices, shipping documents, and supporting paperwork for accuracy and completeness.
- Process and manage import documentation for an assigned portfolio of customer accounts.
- File Importer Security Filings (ISF) and maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with customers, carriers, customs officials, truckers, freight forwarders, and overseas agents to facilitate smooth cargo clearance and delivery.
- Resolve customs holds, examinations, documentation discrepancies, FDA reviews, and other clearance-related issues.
- Prepare delivery orders and coordinate cargo pickup and delivery activities.
- Communicate shipment status updates to internal and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
- Research and verify shipment records, including HBLs, commercial invoices, and related documentation.
- Obtain freight quotations and coordinate transportation with ocean carriers, airlines, and trucking providers.
- Prepare customer quotations and support pricing requests.
- Manage import files from initiation through final delivery and billing completion.
- Maintain exceptional customer service standards while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
- Support continuous process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives.Â
Requirements

What We're Looking For
- 2 to 4 years of experience in import customs clearance, customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or related logistics operations.
- Working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and import entry procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation and compliance.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
