Job Description:
This job is responsible for overseeing the Operations team and ensuring they meet deadlines, execute, and coordinate tasks. Key responsibilities include supporting continuous business improvements, reviewing operations procedures, implementing changes, ensuring adherence to operations procedures, providing guidance to employees, handling exception requests, and referring more complex problems to a senior manager. Job expectations include having an awareness of foundational operations and familiarity in a specific product line.
Consumer Wealth Management Operations (WMO) Tax Reporting Operations (CWTO) is responsible for multiple tax related functions to support IRS and State regulatory required tax reporting, withholding payments, and cost basis updates, primarily on behalf of GWIM investment and retirement accounts.
The Tax Operations Payments Team Lead is responsible for oversight and approval of Federal and State withholding payments to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and 43 various states for Retirement, Retail and Non-Resident accounts. The Team Lead must support the strategic growth of the team through analytical thinking, problem resolution, project management and process improvement. The role must be able to work overtime to support supervision of the team throughout tax season, which is generally highest January - April.
The role will be responsible for overseeing the daily reconciliation and payment processes for $5B in tax withholding annually.
• Administers control reviews of all payment packets completed daily to ensure accuracy and timeliness, confirming and comparing system valuations through various system checks and balances according to strict daily deadlines to establish daily, weekly, quarterly and/or annual liability positions.
• Monitor and ensure the integrity of the withholding ledgers to remit accurate deposits in accordance with IRS and State Agency regulations as well as perform federal and state year-end tax reporting functions.
• Reviewing, researching and responding to escalated branch inquires in relation to withholding via email and/or ASAP and adhering to SLAs in place to meet specified standards.
• Review of new federal and/or state regulations to ensure compliance with both.
• Support year end reconciliation and tax withholding updates during tax season
• Support Process Management reviews within Single Process Inventory (SPI)
• Participate in Audit Reviews
• Review of all procedures in Global Policy Source and ensuring adherence by the team
• Coordinate training and work coverage for Payment associates as needed
• Provide coaching to Payment Associates
• This position also requires overtime during tax season
Responsibilities:
