Energy Instructor

Overview

The Wind Turbine Technician Instructor provides classroom and hands-on instruction to prepare students for entry-level careers in the wind energy industry. The instructor delivers technical training in wind turbine systems, electrical and mechanical systems, troubleshooting, safety, climbing and rescue activities, and applicable Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training while maintaining a safe, engaging, and student-focused learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspire and Educate: Create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where students can flourish, fostering their passion for the HVACR industry while imparting your expert knowledge.
• Hands-On Training: Lead by example and provide practical demonstrations, ensuring students gain real-world experience in diagnostics, maintenance, and repair.
• Curriculum Development: Collaborate with our education team to enhance existing courses and develop new ones that align with industry trends and advancements.
• Mentorship: Guide and mentor students on their projects, encouraging them to think critically and find innovative solutions.
• Safety First: Instill the importance of safety procedures and best practices to ensure a secure working environment for students.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional experience in wind turbine operations, maintenance, service, renewable energy, electrical/mechanical maintenance, or a closely related technical field.
• Working knowledge of wind turbine electrical and mechanical systems, maintenance practices, troubleshooting, and safety procedures.
• Experience working at height and using fall-protection equipment preferred.
• Wind turbine climbing and rescue experience strongly preferred.
• Current GWO training credentials and/or GWO instructional experience strongly preferred.
• Ability and willingness to complete required GWO instructor qualification and maintain applicable credentials.
• Ability to safely perform the physical duties associated with laboratory, climbing, work-at-height, and rescue training.
• Strong verbal communication, technical demonstration, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to students with varying levels of experience.
• Previous teaching, technical training, mentoring, or supervisory experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to complete UTI New Instructor Training, curriculum cross-training, and other required professional development.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on course scheduling, staffing, and operational needs.
