This position will work a hybrid schedule, (2-3 days in office per week) and will be based at Fairbanks Hall in Indianapolis, IN however travel throughout our system will be required as needed.  Â
Shape the stories behind Indiana's leading healthcare system. As a Public Relations Consultant at IU Health, you'll play a pivotal role in influencing how patients, families, media partners, and community stakeholders understand our mission, clinical excellence, and impact across the state. In this highly visible role, you'll create compelling communications that inform, inspire, and build trust, from media pitches and news releases to executive messaging, patient stories, statements, FAQs, and briefing materials. Success requires a strategic communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment, can build strong relationships across teams, and confidently partner with leaders at all levels to elevate IU Health's voice and reputation.
Minimum Candidate QualificationsÂ
Bachelor's Degree required in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field required.
5-7+ years of related experience required.
Requires proven experience working in or with the media.
Requires extensive knowledge of public relations strategies and tactics.
Requires excellent knowledge of national, local, and trade media landscape.

Ensures team delivery of high-quality news coverage locally, statewide, and nationally.Â
Provides strategic guidance on media strategy and personally achieves breakthrough coverage.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with journalists, editors, producers and community influencers to secure accurate, positive and meaningful coverage. Prepares leaders, physicians and subject matter experts for media interviews, speaking opportunities and community engagements.
Provides subject matter expertise and serves as point for issues that could negatively impact the reputation of the organization.Â
Analyzes media coverage and makes strategic recommendations for on-going improvement.Â
Leads timely reporting functions, working closely with the Executive Director of External Communications. Â
Identifies value-added opportunities by utilizing current events, news, social media, and trends to advise leadership.
