The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading all sanitation activities to ensure equipment, production lines, facilities, and processing environments are cleaned and sanitized in compliance with FDA regulations, FSMA requirements, SQF/BRC standards, company policies, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The role oversees sanitation personnel, Chemical/CIP systems, manual Clean-Out-of-Place (COP) and Clean-In-Place (CIP) processes, and supports food safety programs for fresh produce and acidified food manufacturing operations. The Sanitation Supervisor ensures sanitation effectiveness through inspection, verification, documentation, employee training, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a safe work environment.


Food Safety & Sanitation Leadership (25%)


  • Direct and supervise sanitation operations for production equipment, processing areas, packaging lines, conveyors, warehouses, and facility infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, FSMA, GMP, SSOP, HACCP, and company food safety requirements.
  • Coordinate sanitation activities for fresh produce processing equipment and acidified food manufacturing systems.
  • Maintain sanitation readiness for internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Support Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) activities and corrective actions.

CIP/COP Systems Management (20%)

  • Oversee operation and verification of automated CIP systems and manual CIP/COP cleaning processes.
  • Verify proper concentrations, temperatures, flow rates, contact times, and chemical usage during CIP cycles.
  • Ensure sanitation procedures effectively remove organic matter, biofilms, and microbiological risks.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Engineering to troubleshoot sanitation and equipment design issues.
  • Review and approve CIP records and sanitation verification documentation.

Team Leadership & Development (20%)

  • Supervise, train, coach, and develop sanitation employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, coaching sessions, and employee development planning.
  • Promote accountability, safety, food safety culture, and operational excellence.
  • Coordinate staffing schedules to support production requirements and sanitation windows.

Compliance & Documentation (15%)

  • Maintain sanitation records, master sanitation schedules, chemical inventories, and verification documentation.
  • Ensure completion and review of all sanitation logs, pre-operational inspection records, and corrective action reports.
  • Support root cause investigations for food safety, quality, sanitation, and customer complaints.
  • Participate in internal audits and corrective action programs.

Safety Management (10%)

  • Enforce plant safety policies, chemical handling requirements, confined space procedures, and Lockout/Tagout programs.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and sanitation equipment.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety observations.
  • Conduct sanitation safety meetings and training programs.

Continuous Improvement (10%)

  • Identify opportunities to improve sanitation effectiveness, labor efficiency, chemical utilization, and equipment cleanliness.
  • Support sanitation validation activities, trend analysis, and KPI reporting.
  • Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and FSQA teams to improve operational performance.

 

Compensation:

Hiring Pay Range:

$61,500.00 - $82,000.00

Final base pay will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to; role responsibilities, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and/or internal pay equity. Please keep in mind that we consider internal pay equity and hiring at the maximum of the salary range uncommon. Total pay may include other forms of compensation including short-term incentive bonus.
