Cabell Huntington Hospital (CHH) is a 303-bed teaching hospital for Marshall University Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing. Under the general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, and according to written procedures, the Staff Pharmacist compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies to Inpatients and outpatients upon receiving written prescription orders. This is accomplished by following established guidelines and procedures related to the unit dose method of dispensing, including IV admixtures. Assumes responsibility for supervision of pharmacy operations in absence of the Director, or Technician Supervisor. This includes assistance with the control of ordering, receiving, and storage of all pharmaceuticals within the department and the hospital. The pharmacist is also responsible for the dispensing of the following: 750 IV admixtures daily; 2,250 units of medications daily; 200 out-patient prescriptions. Additionally, the pharmacist is responsible for the education of patients on the use of their medications and monitoring of medication administration through profile reviews, as well as active participation in clinical programs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, PharmD. preferred
  • WV Board of Pharmacy Licensure and registration required
