Position Overview 

We are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. This role supports month-end close activities, financial reporting, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and fixed asset accounting. You will work closely with operations, project managers, and finance leaders, gaining valuable exposure across the business while making a direct impact on financial accuracy and reporting. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

General Accounting 

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries. 
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies. 
• Analyze account activity and variances. 
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. 
• Support internal and external audits. 
• Apply accounting policies and internal controls. 
• Help identify process improvements and automation opportunities. 

 

Fixed Asset Accounting 

• Maintain fixed asset records and supporting documentation. 
• Review capital expenditures and determine appropriate accounting treatment. 
• Monitor CIP/AUC projects and support timely capitalization. 
• Reconcile fixed asset subledger to the general ledger. 
• Calculate and analyze depreciation. 
• Prepare entries for acquisitions, transfers, depreciation, impairments, and disposals. 
• Partner with operations and project teams on capital projects. 
• Support reporting, tax compliance, and management inquiries. 
• Ensure compliance with capitalization policies and audit requirements

Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
• 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably with fixed assets. 
• Knowledge of general ledger accounting and month-end close. 
• Understanding of capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and CIP/AUC accounting. 
• ERP experience preferred. 
• Advanced Excel skills. 
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience in retail, fuel, convenience store, manufacturing, or multi-location environments. 
• Audit and financial reporting experience. 
• Knowledge of property tax reporting and capital project accounting. 

Success in This Role 

• Deliver accurate and timely close activities and reconciliations. 
• Maintain complete and accurate fixed asset records. 
• Proactively resolve outstanding issues and follow up on documentation. 
• Build strong partnerships across finance, operations, tax, and project teams. 
• Identify opportunities to strengthen controls and improve processes.
