This role verifies accuracy of shipments, completes all paperwork (BOLs, packing lists, MTRs), maintains real time inventory accuracy, and coordinates closely with production, sales, and drivers. Expect heavy materials, fast turnarounds, and high demand for accurate documentation. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Inbound (Receiving): Inspect, count, and reconcile incoming steel/rebar and supplies against purchase orders, mill tags, and MTRs. Document discrepancies immediately and initiate corrective actions with vendors and purchasing. Enter receipts into the inventory system; label/tag bundles accurately to match mill tags. • Outbound (Shipping): Pull, stage, and verify materials for delivery or willcall; ensure tags and paperwork match customer orders. Prepare complete delivery packets (drawings, MTRs, sales orders, BOLs, MTRs) and obtain required signatures. Coordinate and maintain timely transportation schedules with customers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure on-time deliveries. Communicate shipment status, scheduling updates, and delivery issues to Sales, Production, and customers. • Inventory Control: Perform cycle counts and full physical counts; investigate and reconcile variances. Maintain an up to date list of bundles requiring new or replacement tags. • Documentation & Systems: Maintain electronic and physical files for invoices, delivery tickets, certifications, and shipping documentation. Enter and verify data in RMS/ERP/Excel with a high degree of accuracy. • Equipment & Safety: Conduct and document daily forklift, hoist, and material handling equipment inspections; report defects immediately. Coordinate required maintenance to keep warehouse equipment in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations. Enforce and follow all safety procedures when working around heavy materials and moving equipment. Help maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse and yard. • Production, Scheduling & Cross-Functional Support: Coordinate with Production to maintain an effective fabrication schedule and ensure materials are available to meet production demands. Coordinate with customers, detailers, Sales, and Production to schedule fabrication, deliveries, and project milestones. Print and manage production tags and support fabrication workflow as needed. Professionally field phone calls and customer visits, directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel. • Team Leadership & Communication: Provide day to day direction, coordination, and motivation to teammates to promote productivity, teamwork, and safe work practices. Foster effective communication across Shipping, Receiving, Production, Sales, and Purchasing to ensure efficient operations. Assist with training team members on shipping, receiving, inventory, and documentation procedures as assigned. QualificationsSkills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; additional logistics or inventory coursework a plus. 3+ years in shipping/receiving or inventory control, preferably with heavy industrial materials (steel, construction supplies). Strong math skills (counts, weights, conversions) and attention to detail, errors cost money. Proficiency with inventory software and Excel; able to learn RMS/ERP quickly. Clear, professional communication (written and verbal). Forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days). Ability to multitask and stay calm when priorities collide. Physical & Environmental Requirements (ADA-Compliant) Frequently lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs; occasionally more with assistance/mechanical aids. Prolonged standing, walking, reaching, stooping, crouching, handling materials. Manual hand dexterity for tagging, paperwork, and data entry. Work in non climate controlled areas (heat, cold, dust, noise).
