Position Overview

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the efficient movement of finished goods and raw materials across Sofidel America's manufacturing and distribution network. This role works closely with carriers, warehouses, customer service, planning, and supply chain teams to support on-time delivery and exceptional customer service.

Job Responsibilities

    • Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation activities to support customer requirements and business objectives.
    • Monitor shipment status and proactively address transportation delays, service disruptions, and delivery issues.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for transportation providers regarding shipment scheduling, and issue resolution.
    • Prepare carriers Request for Proposal (RFP) and participate in carrier selection and negotiation
    • Track and report key transportation metrics, including on-time delivery performance, freight costs, carrier performance, and service levels.
    • Review freight invoices for accuracy and work with carriers to resolve discrepancies when necessary.
    • Collaborate with Customer Service, Supply Chain, Planning, Manufacturing, and Warehouse teams to support customer deliveries and inventory movement.
    • Maintain transportation data within company systems and ensure accurate recordkeeping.
    • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve transportation efficiency, reduce freight costs, and enhance service performance.
    • Support carrier management activities, including performance monitoring, issue resolution, and relationship management.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, and customer requirements.
    • Participate in transportation projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Prepare reports, analyses, and transportation performance summaries for management.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, customer service, or a related field.
  • Experience coordinating shipments and working with carriers, freight providers, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), or distribution operations preferred.
  • Knowledge of transportation operations, freight management, routing, shipment tracking, and carrier communication processes.
  • Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, or SAP preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Manufacturing, consumer goods, or distribution industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
