Job Summary
The Facilities Support Technician supports the cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of office, laboratory, manufacturing, and common-use facilities. This position performs custodial services, assists with facility support activities, and helps ensure compliance with company safety, environmental, and security requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize offices, conference rooms, laboratories, manufacturing areas, restrooms, cafeterias, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors, surfaces, and equipment.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste in accordance with established procedures.
- Restock restroom and facility supplies as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness within secure and controlled-access areas while following all security requirements.
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, and buffers.
- Assist with meeting setups, audits, inspections, customer visits, and special events.
- Support spill response and other facility-related cleanup activities.
- Monitor janitorial supply inventory and request replenishment when needed.
- Report safety hazards, facility deficiencies, security concerns, and maintenance issues.
- Comply with company policies, OSHA regulations, environmental standards, and security procedures.
- Protect sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as necessary and/or required.
Basic Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and 0-2 years of janitorial, custodial, housekeeping, facilities support, or related experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. (U.S. citizenship may be required to meet security clearance eligibility requirements.)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
- Availability to work an afternoon/evening schedule from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and SDS/MSDS requirements.
- Experience working in classified or controlled-access facilities.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
- Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
- Ability to distinguish differences in wire and indicator light colors.
- Operation of hand and power tools.
- Lifting, carrying, and/or moving tools, equipment, and components weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Working in confined spaces and around aircraft.
- Ascending and descending ladders or stairs as required.
