Position Summary:

The Manager, General Affairs is responsible for leading General Affairs operations across LG Energy Solution's U.S. locations in Holland and Lansing, Michigan; Matteson, Illinois; and Phoenix, Arizona. This position leads General Affairs Specialists assigned to each location and establishes consistent processes, service standards, and support practices across the organization.


The Manager oversees administrative and logistical support for Korean expatriates, Field Service Engineers (FSEs), HQ business travelers, Korean contractors, and other international personnel supporting U.S. operations. Key areas of responsibility include international employee and traveler support, contractor administration, visa and immigration-related coordination, and communication between U.S. operations and Korean headquarters.


Professional bilingual proficiency in Korean and English is required to effectively support Korean-speaking personnel and serve as a liaison between U.S.-based teams and headquarters.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead General Affairs operations and establish consistent processes, procedures, and service standards across Holland, Lansing, Matteson, and Phoenix locations.
  • Oversee administrative and onsite support for Korean expatriates, FSEs, HQ business travelers, Korean contractors, and other international personnel assigned to or visiting U.S. operations.
  • Develop and maintain standardized processes for international employee support and HQ business traveler onboarding, orientation, and onsite support.
  • Oversee HQ business traveler coordination, including traveler information consolidation, visit schedule confirmation, onboarding and orientation, and response to general inquiries.
  • Oversee FSE assignment and onboarding support and coordinate with site stakeholders to ensure appropriate resources, access, training, and administrative support.
  • Manage administrative support for Korean contractors assigned to U.S. locations, including assignment information, documentation, site coordination, and communication with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Oversee catering and employee meal service operations, including vendor coordination, service quality monitoring, issue resolution, and continuous service improvement.
  • Oversee workplace and office administration activities, including space planning, seating and office layout management, common area management, office supplies, asset management, company mobile phone services, business card administration, and other General Affairs support.
  • Coordinate executive support, visitor support, and other administrative services as needed to support site and business operations.
  • Establish controls and tracking processes for visa, work authorization, assignment, passport, and other applicable expiration dates to support timely action and compliance.
  • Ensure immigration-related questions requiring legal interpretation or advice are appropriately referred to designated immigration counsel or authorized company representatives.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between U.S. operations, Korean headquarters, General Affairs, HR, site leadership, and other stakeholders regarding international employee, traveler, and General Affairs support.
  • Facilitate effective Korean-English communication between Korean-speaking employees, contractors, HQ stakeholders, and U.S.-based teams.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate records, trackers, procedures, and documentation for General Affairs activities.
  • Monitor General Affairs service needs, workload, and operational issues across locations and allocate resources or escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Partner with site leadership and other internal departments to identify General Affairs needs and implement effective solutions.
  • Ensure confidential employee, immigration, travel, and contractor information is handled and maintained appropriately.
  • Identify opportunities to improve General Affairs processes, service delivery, communication, and operational efficiency.
  • Support new site launches, expansions, special assignments, and other business initiatives requiring General Affairs coordination.
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop General Affairs Specialists supporting each U.S. location.
  • Establish clear responsibilities, priorities, performance expectations, and service standards for the General Affairs team.
  • Manage team performance through regular feedback, goal setting, development planning, and performance management.
  • Assign and balance responsibilities across locations based on operational needs and workload.
  • Ensure General Affairs Specialists follow standardized processes while addressing location-specific business requirements.
  • Provide guidance and escalation support for complex employee, contractor, business traveler, FSE, and immigration-related administrative matters.
  • Promote effective collaboration and communication among General Affairs team members, site leadership, HR, HQ, and other business functions.
  • Identify staffing, training, and development needs to ensure appropriate General Affairs support across all locations


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, International Business, Management, Communications, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in General Affairs, global mobility, expatriate support, human resources, international business operations, or a related function.
  • 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team management experience.
  • Professional bilingual proficiency in Korean and English, including verbal and written communication, required due to ongoing responsibilities supporting Korean-speaking employees, contractors, business travelers, and HQ stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting international employees, expatriates, business travelers, contractors, or global business operations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or managing administrative processes across multiple teams or locations.
  • Ability to travel to supported U.S. locations as business needs require.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working for a Korean-headquartered or multinational organization.
  • Experience managing General Affairs or administrative operations across multiple locations.
  • Experience supporting expatriates, FSEs, international assignments, or global mobility programs.
  • Experience coordinating employment-based immigration and visa processes with HR and external immigration counsel.
  • Experience managing or coordinating international contractors.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience partnering directly with corporate or international headquarters.

  • Ability to navigate office and manufacturing areas while supporting employees and business operations.
  • Periodic travel to supported locations in Holland and Lansing, Michigan; Matteson, Illinois; and Phoenix, Arizona, as business needs require.
  • Occasional work or communication outside standard business hours may be required to support Korean HQ, FSEs, international employees, contractors, and business travelers.
  • Must comply with applicable safety requirements and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering designated manufacturing areas.
