The Billing Manager provides leadership and oversight of the Billing Coordinator team to ensure the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of billing operations. This role also maintains direct billing responsibilities for their assigned accounts, and provides support to their team with billing duties when needed.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Supervise and mentor the Billing Coordinators, providing guidance and training.
- Address performance concerns and issue annual performance reviews and communicate back to Accounting leadership.
- Monitor workload and delegate duties to Billing Coordinators. Provide guidance to team members regarding questions.
- Perform and assist in standard Billing Coordinator duties as required, such as billings, check requests, chatters, ALE checks, etc.
- Assist in month-end close reconciliations, including deferred billings, review of posted transactions, and ensuring all necessary billing is completed.
- Oversee and assess Billing Coordinator procedures. Suggest improvements and identify weaknesses with Accounting leadership. Communicate and implement necessary training on any procedure change.
- Partner with Accounting leadership to problem solve on escalations. Communicate resolution back to team when appropriate.
- Lead training efforts for team and new hires.
- Partner with Operations team (Director of Client Solutions, National Account Managers) to communicate any status updates on billers or issues when necessary.
- Meet weekly with each direct report (1:1) to assess morale, answer any claim specific questions, and assess volume.
- Approve payroll, manage employee schedules (i.e. team PTO and biller coverage), and time off requests and communicate back to Accounting Leadership and National Account Managers.
- Assist with related duties and special projects as required.
- Deliver excellent customer service via phone and email.
- Support and provide leadership of Homelink’s companywide and department initiatives.
- Embody Homelink’s culture and service standards and mentor team members to embrace these expectations.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Supervisory and/or management experience required.
- A minimum of 3+ years of experience in a Billing or Accounting position.
- Experience with accounting systems and processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to organize and coordinate tasks with great attention to detail.
- Strong typing (data entry) skills.
- Experience with Salesforce or another CRM software preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (including sorting, filtering, and pivot tables).
- Professional, compassionate, and friendly demeanor.
- Flexible work schedule. Evenings and weekends may be required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates in a fully remote environment. This role routinely uses standard equipment such as computers, phones, etc.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in both a verbal and written manner and must have the ability to hear and verbally respond during interactions with staff and customers. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands through fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
This position is full-time. It will require a flexible schedule that may necessitate evenings/weekends and on-call responsibilities.
