Job DetailsJob Location: Hillsboro, OH 45133Job Category: Health CareProvides indirect patient care in the Emergency Department.  Meets the communications of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff.  Implements directions from physicians and nursing staff. Logs all patients in the Emergency Department in the Computer. Enters and verifies orders in the computer system.  Documents the time orders were placed in the computer on Emergency Department record. Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, coworkers, and physicians. Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patients needs. Retrieves all lab results from the computer and brings to the attention of the charge nurse. Takes specimens to the Laboratory. Orders supplies and printing weekly.  Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Interacts professionally with patients and their families and provides explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary. Maintains age specific safety precautions. Obtains appropriate nursing staff to assist physicians in the care of the patient. Maintains good working relationships both within the department and with other departments. Meets current standard and policies in documentation. Answers telephone in a polite manner and communications information to the appropriate personnel or family. Participates in performance improvement activities. Maintains regulatory requirements, nursing and Hospital policies and procedures and standards, including infection control, safety regulations and guidelines. Attends staff meetings in accordance with Hospital policy. Adheres to the dress code. Completes annual educational requirements. Maintains an accurate and orderly filing system. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. QualificationsHigh School graduate or equivalent. Must be able to communicate effectively with various personality types.  Must coordinate efforts with coworkers to maximize productivity and quality of service. Exerting 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to more objects.  Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.The position requires the successful completion of a medical examination after offer of hire has been made.  The position requires the employee to be free of all unlawful substances and alcohol.The Emergency Department is a high stress environment requiring nurses to “think of their feet”.  The position may receive some exposure to numerous pathogens.  There will be exposure to unpleasant patients and until elements.  Emergency and crisis situations that will need to be handled.
