Job Description: Student Worker, Information Technology

Department: Information Technology Services 

Reports To: Director of Information Technology Services 

Pay Classification: Student Worker - $12/hr (PT)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary: Provides support for the daily operations of the Information Technology Services department. Assists students, faculty, and staff with basic technology-related questions and issues, including account access, hardware, software, and classroom technology. Provides support for Information Technology Services and Learning Innovations projects and assists with technology-related events and activities.

Minimum Required

Education:                                     Current enrollment as a student at Hill College with a minimum 2.0 GPA and in good standing with the College.

Minimum Required 

Experience:                                    Basic knowledge of computer hardware, Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Adobe applications, and web browsers.

 

                                                          Preferred: Previous experience providing customer service or technical assistance.

Core Duties and 

Required Knowledge:                   Provide first-level technical support to students, faculty, and staff through help desk tickets, telephone, email, and in-person assistance.


                                                          Assist with common technology issues, including software installation, password resets, printer troubleshooting, network connectivity, and account access.


                                                          Assist with the setup, maintenance, and operation of technology for campus events, presentations, classrooms, computer labs, and other College activities, including audiovisual equipment, projectors, interactive displays, and video conferencing equipment.


                                                          Perform basic hardware and software maintenance, including operating system updates, installation of approved applications, and routine inventory checks of technology assets.


                                                          Assist Information Technology Services staff with user account and access management in accordance with College policies and procedures.


                                                          Document support requests, resolutions, and procedures in the College's ticketing system.


                                                          Assist full-time Information Technology Services staff with departmental projects, including software implementations, technology rollouts, cybersecurity awareness activities, and other projects as assigned.


                                                          Maintain confidentiality and follow applicable College policies and procedures related to information security, data privacy, and FERPA.


                                                          Demonstrate knowledge of basic computer hardware, software, mobile devices, and common troubleshooting techniques.


                                                          Perform other duties as assigned.

Collaboration:                                Work collaboratively with Information Technology Services, Learning Innovations, and other College departments to provide effective technology support, maintain a positive customer experience, and assist with departmental projects and events.

Other Information:                       Security sensitive position

                                                          This position may require a flexible work schedule, including evenings and occasional weekends or event days, based on departmental and College needs.

Physical Requirements:               Light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for sedentary work.

                                                          This position requires extended periods of sitting and working at a computer.
