Job SummaryĀ 

This position is responsible for the design, development, verification of assigned mechanical components to include sheet-metal / machined-metal parts and assemblies, and theoretical mechanical concepts required to integrate mechanical and electrical components into one assembly.Ā In addition, theĀ SeniorĀ MechanicalĀ Engineering will also be held accountable for peer reviews, department mentoring, and leading small project groups.Ā Ā 

Essential FunctionsĀ 

  • MaintainĀ advancedĀ working knowledge of Crystal Group’s mechanical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor) for efficient conversion of technical requirements into schematic diagrams and assembly drawings.Ā 

  • MaintainĀ advancedĀ understanding of metal parts machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.Ā 

  • MaintainĀ advancedĀ working knowledge of packaging techniques applied to high performance electronics for use in harsh and demanding environments.Ā 

  • Maintain advancedĀ working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the design field.Ā Ā ReliesĀ on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.Ā Ā 

  • Recommend the proper procedures, processes, templates, and tools to correctly perform the task assigned.Ā 

  • Provide technical assistance for the buildingĀ and testing of new products and systemsĀ 

  • ProvideĀ advancedĀ troubleshooting support for products in Manufacturing and Technical ServicesĀ Ā 

  • Review mechanical drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards, as assignedĀ Ā 

  • Ensure designs are producible and error freeĀ 

  • ProvideĀ advancedĀ component-level review and in-depth troubleshooting support forĀ productĀ in Manufacturing and in the field as well as Sales department assistanceĀ Ā 

  • Assist the systems team in researching, designing, and evaluating systems and/or processes to meet customer requirementsĀ 

  • Write mechanical performance requirements for product development or engineering projectsĀ 

  • Perform detailed mechanical or fluid calculations to compute and establish manufacturing standards or specificationsĀ 

  • Utilize engineering theory and simulation models to assess feasibility, sustainability, and operating condition effectsĀ 

  • Compile data and write reports regarding existing or potential mechanical engineering studies or projectsĀ 

  • Assist in the training and mentoring of new hires for the departmentĀ Ā 

  • Maintain a high level of quality of designs with few errorsĀ Ā 

Ā 

Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesĀ 

  • AdvancedĀ knowledge of 3D modeling techniquesĀ Ā 

  • ProficientĀ with Finite Element Analysis and computational fluid dynamicsĀ 

  • ProficientĀ with Computer Numerical Control design requirementsĀ 

  • AdvancedĀ knowledge of computer hardware and systems integrationĀ 

  • AdvancedĀ knowledge of mechanical component industry standardsĀ 

  • AdvancedĀ understanding of commonly practiced concepts related to Mechanical Engineering theoryĀ Ā 

  • Multitasking skills including the ability to work across multiple software platformsĀ 

  • Use hand tools (caliper, micrometer, feeler gauge, fluid pressure meter, infrared thermal cameras, etc.)Ā 

  • Inspect and troubleshoot computer related hardware components at an assembly levelĀ 

  • Ability to use various software programs related to engineering theory (AutoDeskĀ inventor, AutoCAD, Ansys simulation software)Ā 

  • Create, read, and compare technical data sheetsĀ 

  • Effectively lead small (1-3 member) teams on well-defined projects with moderate supervision, oversight, and coaching providedĀ 

  • Identify departmental process deficiencies, propose viable solutions, and implement appropriate corrective action(s) with moderate managerial support providedĀ 

Required QualificationsĀ 

  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected personā€)Ā 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or related field requiredĀ and 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experienceĀ or at leastĀ 20+Ā years of Mechanical Engineering experience in lieu of a degreeĀ 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of mechanical component design or manufacturing experienceĀ Ā 

  • 5+ years of CAD software related workĀ Ā 

  • Extensive knowledge of computer equipment (PC, firewall, switch, data acquisition systems, UPS, server rack equipment, etc.)Ā Ā 

  • ExtensiveĀ knowledge of harsh mechanical environmentsĀ 

  • 1+ year of leadership experienceĀ 

Working ConditionsĀ 

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Occasional exposure to manufacturingĀ floorĀ and testing environments. May requireĀ lifting upĀ to 25Ā lbs, standing for extended periods during product testing.Ā
