Cardiovascular Imaging Scheduling Specialist

Overview

Responsible for coordinating with providers to obtain orders and schedule patients for Cardiovascular imaging studies at MMIC. Complete benefits review to ensure the study has been pre-authorized by the payer.

Special Instructions

Responsibilities

Take calls/fax/emails from providers asking to schedule cardiac exams.

Verify prior authorization

Verify patient insurance eligibility

Enter documentation and authorization into the EMR

Document and communicate with clinical staff, physicians, administrators and patients regarding issues and discrepancies.

Coordinates rescheduling with patient and provider

Call and confirm patients’ appointments and explain procedure and give opportunity for the patient to ask questions.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

1 year of patient access experience.

Meditech training is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Ability to navigate Meditech scheduling module and EMR

Communication skills

Maintain professional attitude

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to set for extended periods of time to utilize the computer workstation

Light physical demands Moderate Energy level Lift and Carry 25lbs
