Responsibilities

River Oaks Hospital, located minutes outside of New Orleans, Louisiana, is a 126-bed psychiatric facility that has provided quality treatment to individuals suffering from mental illness and/or addictive disorders since 1970. Situated on a 14-acre campus, inpatient services are available for adults and adolescents. We also offer a partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for adults.

 

The New Orleans Institute provides specialized services for the treatment of trauma and compulsive behaviors. The Eating Disorders Treatment Center offers a comprehensive program for male and female adults with anorexia, bulimia, and related eating disorders. Both the New Orleans Institute and the Eating Disorders Treatment Center are nationally recognized for their excellence. River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Director of Plant Operations to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals. The Director of Plant Operations is responsible for the development, organization and management of the facility and grounds including Maintenance, Housekeeping and Safety. The Director of Plant Operations ensures duties are performed in a systematic and timely manner in accordance with hospital policies and procedures and applicable regulatory/accreditation rules and guidelines resulting in a well-maintained and patient/employee safe behavioral healthcare facility.

Qualifications

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Directs all activities and staff pertaining to safety, grounds and building maintenance; housekeeping; security; and transportation and parking services in accordance with pertinent standards, regulations, and policies and procedures. 
  • Ensure compliance with pertinent healthcare building codes, accreditation standards, OSHA, and contractual work specifications; and oversee emergency facilities operational initiatives and plans.
  • Oversee all construction projects and any work performed by outside vendors and contractors, while assuring that all work performed meets fire and safety codes.
  • Maintain documentation for various regulatory agencies such as JC, City of New Orleans and Fire Marshall.
  • Assure that OSHA guidelines and hospital safety policies are being followed.
  • Essential Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.  Able to stand and walk for long periods of time.  Able to lift and carry equipment and supplies of 30 lbs or more.
  • Exposure to Hazards: Minimum exposure to communicable diseases, potentially contaminated body fluids, and hazardous materials.

The Director of Plant Operations Job Requirements:

  • Education: Required: High School diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree from a college or technical/trade school preferred.
  • . Education may be substituted with experience on a year to year basis.

  • Licensure and Certification: Required: Valid Louisiana Drivers License.
  • Experience: Required::Five years of experience in facilities management or related field. Preferred: Experience in JC readiness and surveys in a psychiatric setting.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment, electrical, plumbing and mechanical maintenance.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory codes regarding Fire and Life Safety codes, building and engineering codes.
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience communicating and managing staff and projects.
