Sanitation Technician
Location: Hanover, Pennsylvania
Shift: B Shift | 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM on a rotating AWS schedule (4 days on, 4 days off)
Starting Pay: $20.45/hour + $2.00 Shift Differential
HOW YOU WILL MAKE HISTORY HERE…
As a Sanitation Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and food-safe manufacturing environment. Your commitment to sanitation excellence, safety, and compliance helps ensure quality products are produced while supporting efficient plant operations and regulatory standards.
WHAT YOU WILL DO…
- Perform plant cleaning and sanitation activities according to the Master Sanitation Schedule.
- Maintain general housekeeping and cleanliness throughout all areas of the facility.
- Operate powered cleaning equipment, including power washers, foam applicators, steamers, powered lifts, scissor lifts, automatic compactors, motors, and other sanitation equipment.
- Safely operate floor jacks, trash compactors, vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, and related equipment.
- Follow safe lifting, carrying, and material handling procedures while identifying and reporting defective equipment.
- Disassemble, clean, sanitize, and reassemble processing equipment, including pumps, bucket elevators, slurry systems, filters, and production machinery.
- Perform sanitation duties independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high productivity and quality standards.
- Learn and execute Allergen Elimination Procedures to support food safety requirements.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation procedures, and food safety standards.
- Properly utilize and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Participate in safety training, team development programs, and facility improvement initiatives.
- Read and follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and safely handle, mix, and apply cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer recommendations.
- Assist with spill containment and cleanup activities as needed.
- Monitor and report pest activity to support pest control programs.
- Remove product debris and waste materials from production areas.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) procedures and training requirements.
- Support Continuous Improvement initiatives, including 5S (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
- Collect recyclable materials and load them into designated trailers.
- Mix and handle chemical concentrates safely and accurately.
- Enter chemical-related information into Excel or other systems when required.
- Assist in the creation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and support overtime requirements when necessary.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE… (MUST HAVE)
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment and follow all sanitation, safety, and food safety procedures.
- Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and sanitation tools.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and follow Safety Data Sheet (SDS) instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety.
- Ability to perform physical job duties including lifting, bending, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work in wet, humid, noisy, and fast-paced manufacturing environments.
- Commitment to teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Willingness to work overtime as business needs require.
IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE… (NICE TO HAVE)
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One (1) year of manufacturing, production, sanitation, or industrial cleaning experience.
- Experience working in a food manufacturing or food processing environment.
- Knowledge of GMPs, food safety requirements, and allergen control procedures.
- Experience operating powered industrial cleaning equipment.
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Bloodborne Pathogen (BBP) training experience.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel or other data entry systems.
- Previous experience supporting 5S or continuous improvement initiatives.
Physical & Work Environment
- Continuous standing, walking, hand use, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movement throughout the shift.
- Frequent climbing, kneeling, squatting, ladder climbing, and two-handed carrying.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds continuously, with heavier lifting performed with assistance.
- Frequent exposure to wet and humid conditions, moving mechanical equipment, and loud production environments.
- Occasional exposure to elevated work areas, airborne particles, fumes, and cleaning chemicals.
- Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all safety standards.
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
