Position Summary

Assesses transport requests via Transport Tracking.  Exemplifies mission, vision and values while leading conflict resolution, demonstrating critical thinking and dealing with conflict situations.  Evaluates transport tracking to accommodate appropriate turn around times.  Acts as liaison between transporters and hospital staff.
Maintains effective communication with the Assistant Supervisor and Supervisor.  Implements hospital and departmental policies.  Keeps account of all equipment, assuring maintenance and repairs are completed in timely manner.  Assures appropriate staffing for daily shift.  Makes schedule changes as appropriate.
Assures appropriate dress code adherence. Utilizes chain of command to resolve issues. Supports departmental Patient Advocate Program and hospital Service Excellence Programs.

Responsibilities

1.  Assess productivity to determine any backlogs for transport services and personnel backups. -Reviews Transport Tracking for issues and works with Central Transport Dispatcher to enhance departmental services and decrease unnecessary wait times.

2.  Makes daily assignments, including lunch schedules, re-evaluating for changes as necessary throughout shift.

Assigns communication equipment for shift, including pagers and phones.

Ensures staff are logged in to Transport Tracking system as per unit expectations.

Communicates assignments with Central Transport Dispatcher and re-evaluates for assignment changes throughout shift in order to enhance overall throughput.

Communicates regularly and effectively with Central Transport Dispatcher.

3.  Acts as a liaison between transporter and hospital staff when problems or delays occur during transport.

4.  Communicates effectively with Supervisor (or Patient Placement Facilitator) any changes, problems, issues or concerns during shift.-Communicates departmental issues with Leadership staff.

Communicates and implements hospital and departmental policies.

5.  Leads daily huddle for transport staff.

6.  Implements equipment maintenance by assigning transporters to complete cleaning and inspecting the safety of equipment on a daily basis, including oxygen tanks.-Locates equipment such as wheelchairs, stretchers needed for departmental use. -Completes terminal cleaning record for all equipment per policy.

7.  Previews staffing pattern for following day/week to assure appropriate coverage.

Discusses scheduling needs with Supervisor to determine covering call ins by schedule rearrangement or calling in additional staff.

Makes schedule changes in Flexwork, including call outs as well as approved staffing changes.

8.  Assures appropriate dress code including ID badge display.

9.  Assists staff with orientation.

10.  Actively participates in Patient Advocate and Service Excellence Program by striving to meet satisfaction scores and encouraging staff to do the same.

Minimum Requirements

Current American Heart Association CPR is required.
High School equivalent or higher is required.

1 year to 3 years in Patient Transport, Care Partner, or Nursing Assistant is required.

Pay Range

$18.00 - $22.42
