As Head of Enterprise Strategy, you will lead Varian’s enterprise strategic planning, portfolio prioritization, and long-range business direction. This role partners closely with executive leadership and global business leaders to align growth strategy, investment decisions, and operational priorities. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, translating market, clinical, technology, and competitive insights into clear strategic recommendations and execution plans.
The ideal candidate brings deep enterprise strategy experience combined with direct exposure to healthcare, oncology, cancer care delivery, or clinical transformation. Experience in healthcare consulting, provider strategy, oncology program leadership, clinical operations, or healthcare technology strategy is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the annual and multi-year strategic planning process, shaping Varian’s long-term growth priorities and enterprise roadmap.
- Drive portfolio prioritization, investment governance, and resource allocation to improve enterprise performance and value creation.
- Develop strategic recommendations, business cases, and executive presentations for the ELT, CEO, and Management Board.
- Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, healthcare policy, clinical innovation, and emerging technologies to inform strategic priorities.
- Partner across business lines to ensure near-term initiatives align with long-term enterprise objectives.
- Define and maintain enterprise dashboards, scorecards, and KPIs to track strategic progress and business outcomes.
- Lead strategy governance forums and manage the enterprise operating rhythm.
- Engage Key Opinion Leaders, healthcare systems, clinicians, and industry experts to bring external insight into strategic decision-making.
- Connect commercial, operational, clinical, and product teams to ensure strategies reflect customer needs, clinical workflows, and patient impact.
- Lead enterprise transformation initiatives that improve organizational effectiveness, reduce redundancy, and accelerate execution.
Your Expertise
- Strategic leadership experience in enterprise planning, portfolio governance, corporate strategy, or business transformation within MedTech, oncology, healthcare technology, healthcare services, or related industries.
- Ability to translate complex market, clinical, operational, and financial information into practical business strategies.
- Strong understanding of oncology ecosystems, cancer care delivery, clinical workflows, radiation oncology, and healthcare innovation trends.
- Strong analytical skills in market intelligence, competitive analysis, financial modeling, forecasting, investment prioritization, and KPI development.
- Experience influencing senior executives and preparing strategic materials for CEO, Board, and executive-level audiences.
- Exceptional executive communication, storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leading enterprise governance, operating rhythms, strategic planning cycles, and portfolio prioritization processes.
- Proven ability to drive alignment across matrixed global organizations and lead transformation initiatives.
- Experience as a cancer care consultant, oncology program leader, healthcare strategist, or clinical operations leader focused on care delivery, operational performance, or patient outcomes.
- Understanding of provider environments, including cancer centers, integrated health systems, academic medical centers, and oncology networks.
- Ability to connect frontline clinical realities with enterprise strategy through direct collaboration with physicians, radiation oncologists, nursing leaders, administrators, and healthcare executives.
- Experience working in or supporting clinical care environments such as cancer treatment centers, radiation oncology departments, infusion centers, operating rooms, or other patient care settings.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree preferred, such as MBA, MHA, MPH, Health Economics, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Advanced clinical or scientific degree, such as PhD, MD, RN, or PharmD, is a plus.
- 10-15+ years of progressive leadership experience in strategy, corporate development, enterprise planning, business transformation, healthcare consulting, clinical operations, or portfolio management.
- Demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise or business-unit strategies within complex global organizations.
- Deep familiarity with oncology, cancer care delivery, radiation therapy, precision medicine, healthcare technology, or related clinical specialties.
- Experience leading or advising oncology, cancer care, perioperative, or other clinical programs in provider organizations, academic medical centers, or healthcare consulting firms.
- Experience with AI-enabled healthcare solutions, digital health ecosystems, clinical decision support tools, or data-driven product strategies.
- Track record of leading strategic planning cycles and delivering measurable business outcomes.
- Experience engaging directly with clinicians, healthcare executives, and healthcare systems to inform strategy, investment priorities, and execution plans.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.

The base pay range for this position is:
$301,700 - $414,843Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
If this is a commission eligible position the commission eligibility will be in accordance with the terms of the Company's plan. Commissions are based on individual performance and/or company performance.
