Position Summary: As a Jewelry Designer I at Fire Mountain Gems and Beads, you will create original jewelry pieces that showcase our products in catalogs, online content, instructional materials, and videos. This hands-on creative role blends technical jewelry-making skills with trend research, teaching, and on-camera presence. You will also contribute to written instructions, product selection, and team collaboration to support our mission of inspiring customers through education and design.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design jewelry pieces using Fire Mountain Gems and Beads products, aligning with brand and style guidelines
  • Write clear, accurate, step-by-step instructions for each design
  • Order new products and manage inventory for use in jewelry projects
  • Research and stay current with fashion and accessory trends to inspire new designs
  • Teach jewelry-making techniques internally or externally as needed
  • Track and manage tasks using the Wrike project management system
  • Participate in jewelry-making and trend-based videos—responsible for planning, scripting, hosting, and basic post-production edits
  • Collaborate with team members and marketing staff to deliver high-quality, engaging content

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in foundational jewelry-making techniques: stringing, crimping, simple/wrapped loops, using jump rings, and finishing
  • Working knowledge of a variety of mediums, including polymer and metal clays, seed beading, metalwork, and fiber-based designs
  • Strong eye for color, design balance, and trend relevance
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint) and Wrike or similar project management systems
  • Comfortable presenting and teaching jewelry techniques; on-camera experience is a plus
  • Receptive to constructive feedback with a willingness to adapt and refine designs
  • Passion for and awareness of current and emerging jewelry/fashion trends
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
  • Ability to stay focused in a collaborative and active studio environment

Physical Demands: Constant, reach, finger, grip and grasp of jewelry making tools and supplies for extended periods of time performing fine manipulation requiring manual dexterity. Lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally.Ā  Required to frequently bend, crouch and stoop.Ā  Frequent use of computer equipment and programs including keyboard, mouse and monitor. Frequently move about inside the department and within the main building of the company, with or without reasonable accommodation. Position is sedentary with frequent instances of standing, walking and carrying product and designs.Ā
