ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION: • Oversees the daily clinical operations of an assigned nursing unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality resident-centered care in accordance with federal, state, and facility regulations. • Conducts routine Guardian Angel Rounds to proactively identify resident concerns, enhance the resident experience, and promote satisfaction through timely follow-up and service recovery. • Performs daily and weekly clinical rounds to monitor resident conditions, identify changes in status, ensure appropriate interventions are implemented, and support positive clinical outcomes. • Completes ongoing clinical audits to ensure compliance with nursing standards, documentation requirements, infection prevention practices, medication management, and quality assurance initiatives. • Conducts regular staff audits to monitor adherence to clinical policies, procedures, infection control standards, documentation accuracy, and resident care expectations while providing coaching and education as needed. • Provides direct supervision, leadership, mentoring, and performance oversight for nursing staff, promoting accountability, teamwork, professional development, and exceptional resident care. • Assists with the assignment, scheduling, and daily staffing of nursing personnel to ensure adequate coverage while maintaining quality resident care and regulatory compliance. • Collaborates with the Director of Nursing (DON), Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), physicians, therapists, pharmacy, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate resident care and resolve clinical concerns. • Oversees and maintains accurate, complete, and timely medical records while ensuring compliance with facility policies and regulatory documentation standards. • Participates in the Triple Check process to review new admissions, physician orders, medications, treatments, diagnoses, and reimbursement documentation for accuracy and compliance. • Coordinates and assists with new resident admissions, ensuring comprehensive admission assessments, physician orders, care planning, documentation, and a smooth transition into the facility. • Completes and reviews required resident assessments, including significant change assessments, clinical evaluations, and other nursing assessments as required by regulation or resident condition. • Assists with the development, implementation, and review of individualized resident care plans to ensure they accurately reflect each resident's current needs and goals. • Orders and maintains appropriate clinical and medical supplies, ensuring adequate inventory levels while supporting cost-effective purchasing and uninterrupted resident care. • Assists with reviewing physician orders, laboratory results, treatments, and follow-up care to ensure timely implementation and accurate documentation. • Supports facility quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives through participation in audits, monitoring outcomes, corrective action planning, and regulatory readiness. • Provides education, coaching, and competency validation for nursing staff while participating in orientation and ongoing in-service training programs. • Assists in implementing and maintaining company policies, procedures, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards. • Ensures resident rights, dignity, privacy, and safety are consistently upheld while fostering a culture of compassion, accountability, and excellence. • Participates in interdisciplinary meetings, care conferences, department meetings, and other facility committees as assigned. • Serves in the on-call rotation with the Director of Nursing (DON) and Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), providing clinical leadership and support during assigned on-call periods. • Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned to support the overall success of the nursing department and facility operations. SUPERVISION AND MANAGEMENT  •    Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the unit manager will manage, supervise, articulate expectations, and provide corrective guidance as needed.  •    Prioritize work assignments consistent with level of staff available and resident care acuity.  Education/requirements: •    Two years previous nursing experience required,  •    Preferably working with a geriatric long-term care population; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  •    Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of employment.  Continued PHYSICAL DEMANDS  The physical demands described below are representative of those that an employee in this position would encounter on the job. Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing program. Licensure & Certifications: Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Iowa. CPR and First Aid certification (or must be obtained upon hire). Additional certifications (e.g., wound care, IV therapy) may be required or preferred depending on specific duties. Experience: Previous experience in a nursing role, preferably in long-term care, skilled nursing, or geriatric care settings. Experience in supervisory roles and leadership is a plus.
